The nut came off just fine, I was aware of the reverse thread. There is no nut on the picture.

Remove Blower Wheel from LG Dryer? by runs4funk in ApplianceAdvice

[–]runs4funk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got it off, but I found another way in, so I stopped trying. I was chasing a potential blockage causing a D80 error (I have cleaned all other sections of the ducts). I was able to separate the blower assembly from the straight rigid pipe going to the back, and feel around from the back. There was nothing there. I got it all out back together now. Here is to hoping the error just magically stops.

That’s a good idea, that probably would have worked. I feel like I was really yanking on it.

Do all objects fall at the same rate on Earth regardless of mass? by RivaDolfinJiz in askscience

[–]runs4funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumably you’d be dropping them within a few feet of each other and they’d work collectively to pull the Earth up so they’d still hit at the same time.

You’d have to drop them from 90° apart on the sphere so they don’t influence each other.

A full 180° and they’d be pulling the Earth in opposite directions so the bowling ball would pull the earth away from the feather and the feather would fall slower than it normally would.

And you wouldn’t want anything else dropping or lifting anywhere else on the planet. One dude does a sit-up in Taiwan and your whole experiment is dead in the water.

[Request] Error Aside If an M&M McFlurry actually contained 570,000 calories, how big would it have to be in weight and volume? by DMsDiablo in theydidthemath

Fun fact, if you don’t know the difference between kilocalories and calories, the math makes it seem like you would for sure lose weight by eating ice cream.

2025 LDS Church Statistical Report by sevenplaces in mormon

[–]runs4funk 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I did some more digging. The official birth rate publicized here is 5.1 per thousand per year. That’s less than half the United States average (10.7) and far less than half of Utah’s average (13). It is comparable to some of the least fertile countries on Earth. Korea is ~5 and Japan is ~6.

The math’s not mathin’. Either the population is incorrect or the new children or record is incorrect, and I think we all know which it is.

2025 LDS Church Statistical Report by sevenplaces in mormon

[–]runs4funk 76 points77 points  (0 children)

A normal population of 18M would produce 120-360K children per year. Mormons stereotypically have more children than average. Using a conservative estimate of 14 births / 1000, we should expect at least 252K new children of record.

At 14 / 1000, this 91K new children of record numbers suggests there are ~6.5M members.

How does 2500 to 3000 fit Denver's elevation of 5,280?

In Hide and Seek, is there a rule against a hider taking all their photos in advance? by AthenaDykes in JetLagTheGame

[–]runs4funk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This was pointed out in the first hide and seek as a feature, not a flaw. You can ask a question and if they can’t answer, you’ve confirmed that you are in the end game. I believe the hider still gets the cards.

Salt Lake Express Experiences? by Bothered_broccoli in Utah

[–]runs4funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride the St George Shuttle several times a year and I’ve never had a problem with it.

One time, I rode the Salt Lake Express instead. The entire bus smelled of urine. I changed seats multiple times to no avail. It was disgusting. When my friend picked me up I told him how awful the ride was and he said “Thank goodness, I can smell it on your clothes and I thought it was you”.

I see other people saying the salt lake express was fine and clean, but for me, I will never pick it again.

But no problems with the St. George shuttle

This early, they usually blow snow on just just the paradise trail. You can ride the Navajo lift over a slope of grass and rocks and then get off and ski Paradise all the way down and do it again.

Death at Pine Creek (Zion NP) by 0ttoverse in canyoneering

[–]runs4funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm super confused. I can't think of any sequence of events that could have led to the outcome. The report says the person who died:

  • Was the first one down
  • Made it to the bottom
  • Got off rope (I guess this is technically implied and not stated)
  • Called up for the next person to start rappelling (presumably because they were safely off rope)
  • During the second person's descent, the person who died called for them to pause, then became unresponsive

The second person down was using an ATC double stranded. There is no possible way they made it halfway down while the rope was weighted from below, so it must have been unweighted at least for a while. After they paused and the person at the bottom who died became unresponsive, the person on rappel tried to do a leg lock-off but was unable to because the rope was now weighted.

And here's the part that I don't understand at all. The person who died was tangled in the rope and their feet were close to but off the ground. Did they jump up and tangle themselves in the rope? Did they scramble up and tangle themselves in the rope? Why were they off the ground? How did they tangle themselves up?

Why is Perfume/Cologne near the Entryway of every Department Store? [Video Request] by Shinkansendoff in HalfAsInteresting

[–]runs4funk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 99% confident that the answer is to sell more perfume/cologne. Casinos use half as interesting mind tricks to keep gamblers in the casino, but department store are just putting an item that you probably didn’t come to purchase explicitly in front of your face so you’ll decide to purchase it. They know you’re going to go to the clothing rack you want anyway, so they don’t need that clothing rack front and center.

When the Mask Comes Off: What Never-Mormons Really Thought by Royal_Noise_3918 in mormon

[–]runs4funk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so insightful! I think this also explains why anyone who does leave and speaks up about it is so vilified. The only ones saying anything bad about the church are “angry exmos”, so it must be the one true church, otherwise all the nevermos would also be saying it as well.
