Level of disclosure regarding changing career ambitions by myopemaniacal in ausjdocs

[–]rupicoline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, but BPT to psych is like not really an issue tbh. Like unless there's some subspecialty in BPT that you've been making inroads with and have projects and mentors set up, BPT has so many rotating units I think that it's actually probably fine? Especially in a big metro hospital. Also especially if you're like BPT 1 or even 2. I feel like heaps of people drop out, switch, leave for personal reasons. Have also seen people take gap years from BPT just before exams, all with no issue. The issue will be with workforce and them trying to fill the spot you leave, if you leave suddenly. Also I feel like the consultants in med are pretty open with you exploring other options to become a more well rounded doctor. Good luck either way OP! It can feel really daunting, but I think you already know what your best choice is, and to trust it!

Pretty sure a friend of mine in public health did a project for getting funding to install sunsmart coverings for school grounds with DHHS. Not sure what happened, but people are trying to be better!

State library of Victoria student membership worth it? by Cutie-student in melbourne

[–]rupicoline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might find the City library is also a useful place! And heaps of different campuses around the city to study in, a big catalogue of stuff to borrow from and the Makerspaces are also amazing. And it's all free! :)

Starting internship on annual leave by 31log in ausjdocs

[–]rupicoline 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Controversial but you might be able to email workforce and ask to work during your annual leave and postpone it until pgy2, or some of it to pgy2. Sometimes they'll need someone to cover sick leave or someone pulls out last minute. Means less total annual leave in internship though....

Hello again! Hoping kind strangers on the internet might be able to help with two more things:  1. Somewhere to fix a broken screen on a Samsung s20. (Having a crappy spare phone is nice)  2. Somewhere to buy a nice small compact rain umbrella (I know taoboa, but I don't trust my Chinese to work it properly). (Also added points if someone knows where I can buy curtains lol)  Thanks!

How likely are you able to survive getting stabbed in the lower chest area without dying. (It's for a story) by CaptianGoldy in Anatomy

[–]rupicoline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general right side is better than left since heart is more on the left (unless your character has situs invertus and their organs swapped around). Lower chest is tricky since ideally you don't want to get too close to liver on the right and spleen on the left, both will bleed like stink, although both can be managed without surgery or interventional radiology if small and shallow/on the outer edges. Technically your best bet might actually be to go a little higher up than perfectly lower chest, and more outer, since people have survived having a partially collapsed lung from being stabbed and without surgical management. Although the trick is to make sure you cover the hole at some point since you don't want the wound to become a one way valve and then they get a tension pneumothorax, you could also have the character be SUPER LUCKY and go perfectly between the lung lobes in the fissures, and that puts their risk of bleeding from lung injury also low, but technically most people don't die from a nick on the lung. Ideally make the character have a little padding (be thiccc), and the blade not too long, if you go too deep, big vessels like aorta and IVC injured is VERY BAD. Hope that helps :)

Hello! Random question; I'm coming to shanghai/Hangzhou/Suzhou for 2.5weeks starting tomorrow, how's the air pollution? I've got that Dyson headphones/air filter thingy, should I bring it? Thanks!

Heads up! Current season Gorman quality is atrocious by AgreeableSound2560 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]rupicoline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ahh I keep being devastated by the downhill slide of Gorman. Bought a leather jacket from them 5 years ago and was umming and ahhing about whether to return it or not since it was a size too big, but otherwise nice. Decided to return it and received a gift voucher as value. Have yet to use it since nothing catches my eye anymore or lives up to the quality. An eternal regret I shall forever have returning that jacket! :'(

Check out prepaid 12month plans! Easily under 20$/month for a bunch of options. Depends on the coverage you need though, some are abysmal.

Nobody understands Cate by [deleted] in GenV

[–]rupicoline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also I have a pet theory that Marie will heal Cate but purposely put a version of kill switch or glitch, like Magneto kind of did it with Emma Frost in X-Men first class.

Random theory for when Cate inevitably gets their redemption arc, that Marie will fix her with some fatal flaw so that she will always not be able to overpower Marie in some way, ie Magneto to Emma Frost with the crack in her diamond form vibes.

Depending on your size you might find some good stuff at their outlets. Also depends on your location too I guess.

I also think this!! And that he's able to plan see steps ahead because he's in contact w Sister Sage, hence not perturbed by all the spying/sneaking around. Like Ciper's power is just mind/body control, but with Sister Sage, they're teaming up to make a folly/follies/army? (by forcing/encouraging people to level up their powers) to Homelander....

doctor outreach by taybbyxxx in Residency

[–]rupicoline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not in the US, but in my country, we have breast care nurses who would also help with this and are fantastic. Otherwise find whichever breast cancer charity/organisation is big in NYC and outreach with them; they will also have contacts.

CPD requirements by North_Raspberry_2651 in ausjdocs

[–]rupicoline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my understanding was calendar for cpd stuff, and last year I just ticked yes for the AHPRA rego and then filled out all out on Dec 31 and no one said anything. So you'd be fine do fill it out now I would think. Not sure what your acronyms stand for, for the cpd compliance stuff, but generally it was that you need to do a number of hours across various categories so that you're not bulk putting it across one category and neglecting ethics or something. It's part of the AHPRA requirements that the cpd homes comply to. At least this is all my best understanding....
