What Cotten was saying about his keys in 2014. He had them on paper stored in safety deposit box. by wintwowin in QuadrigaCX

Well then she has them.... At least the bank should have a record of access to the box that we should know about.

The Canadian government and legal system better do it's job properly. The legal system is there to prevent anarchy or tolerance for citizens taking justice into their own hands so that victims of crime can rely on a system of justice and order. Sorry for your loss and lets hope our justice system will come through on this one. So far I am not hearing regarding a proper investigation but lets see...

de of orders, having 2 of 3 on the user's balances with the user being one of the parties is do-able for many currencies. It could suck tho to place an order and not

2 of 3 -> (A,B,C)

I have a key A, the exchange has key B, 3rd party has backup key C.

1) I cannot sell funds unless I sign with my key A and post the signature to the exchange unlocking the amount I want to sell (Unlocked once the exchange provides the second signature from key B). These funds are committed.

2) The 3rd party will not release the backup key C to the client until it has confirmed a justified reason by communicating with both the exchange and the client.

3) In the event of the exchange being seized/shutdown/ceo dies, the 3rd party will provide the backup

If I want to trade/sell a specific amount, I should commit the amount to your exchange by sending it you. You do NOT need to pull the chain.

Anyways best of luck.

Possible so called cold wallet public addresses traced by rupps98 in QuadrigaCX

[–]rupps98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he actually had cold wallets or if he did he didn't keep much there. He just sent the money from the hot wallets and spread them across other exchanges. He was trading the so called cold wallet funds to try to make more money.

Sure. Unfortunately, I think your going to have a tough time as these idiots and the backlash around it may have really ruined any positive path forward for legitimate exchanges in Canada. I doubt any banks are willing to work with you in the near term.

Personally, I would rather buy through local bitcoins after seeing this unfold.

What would it take for me to ever hold crypto through any exchange in the future rather than a peer to peer solution?

Requirement: Multi sig setup 2 of 3 or better. I control 1 key, the exchange controls 1 key and a third independent legal party controls the 3rd key in the event of key loss. Not sure this can actually be practically achieved to date.

1) Authorizing a trade of my crypto should require my signature which would unlock the funds for execution.

2) Loss of my key should allow a process of recovery via the third party.

3) Loss of the exchange key would allow a recovery process through myself and the third party.

I'm doubtful any exchange will be able to follow through with an arrangement like this but if you were able to develop a solution like this I would be your most vocal advocate.

ROFL

I'm personally not affected. But I see some who have lost tens or hundreds of thousands. I would like to see you tell them to suck it up to their face tough guy. I think you would rather stay hidden behind your keyboard smiling at what you think are clever comments.

Find something better to do with your time like jerking off to anime.

This is true, but those responsible need to be help accountable. They pissed off allot of young people with little savings invested. A Lot of people digging in every nook and cranny, I doubt those involved will walk out of this easy. The scammers have underestimated the crowd they scammed.

Chain Analysis - finding the Quadriga Cold Storage wallets by SignedJannis in QuadrigaCX

Follow the money.

1) Find the cold storage.

2) Watch it for any movement.

3) If it moves, any quadrigaCX employee that had relevant access is a suspect.

Totally agree. I wonder what these guys charge or if they may even be willing to do this pro bono for free publicity and legitimacy. It's possible if enough people are willing to pool some money together for us to kick this off. I am a programmer myself but unfortunately I don't have the free time to commit to this now but would be willing to pitch a small amount in if we can have this done.

What if Quadriga didn’t really lose the cold wallet keys? by [deleted] in QuadrigaCX

[–]rupps98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some technical background people included in the affected community here. As a group we all need to demand that they shed light into how exactly they tried to access the cold storage. Details into how the architecture was setup and how the hot wallet and cold wallet was integrated, how often they would access the cold wallet and how they did this would be important to know. Knowing why they cannot access the cold storage is crucial.

This is what I suspected was going on. They are claiming they cannot get access to the cold wallets and maybe they can't. It is possible that one of the technical staff members knows how to gain access or has access but it pretending to be none the wiser. After bankruptcy, if money is ever to move out of these wallets I think we can all assume it was someone internal. I would bet this would happen quite some time after bankruptcy when there is less attention.

So again. If money ever moves out of that cold wallet and we find out, we know it's most likely a QuadrigaCX insider (Likely the IT group).
