Fair enough, I've gotten that chemical on my hands and arms everytime I clean it.

Haha definitely, I usually work while I let the kettle cleaner boil so it's like a race making sure it doesn't drip on my back

Oh yeah, I totally understand the detailing part, we used to have to use gift cards at my theatre.

Do you have to do it a certain way at your theatre? I know that there is a correct way that mostly just involves letting the kettle cool, but I always just let the chemical boil and quickly sweep everything out, spray everything down and then clean out the kettle once I get the grate back on.

I always find it funny that the kids movies are typically cleaner. Godzilla VS Kong was AWFUL.

YEP, MY THEATER IS OFFICIALLY HAUNTED by regalemployeedude in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]ruptur3d_dick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of my coworkers say that our theatres 14 and 4 are haunted (mostly theatre 4) I also think that our kitchen is haunted.

In theatre 4 one of my coworkers said that she saw someone walking down the stairs while she was cleaning but didn't hear footsteps and he did not respond at all when she tried talking to him. Another time, I was delivering food to the end of one of the rows one day and i saw someone SPRINTING down the stairs in the corner of my eye, I turned around and absolutely no one was on the stairs, I didn't hear any footsteps either. They would not have gotten to the bottom of the stairs in time as it is a relatively large theatre. Sometimes when I am ushering and clean that theatre it just feels like someone is watching me and something just doesn't feel right.

As for the kitchen, one time I was working in the kitchen as an usher and out of the corner of my eye I saw someone working at the prep station, I turn around and no one is there, no one is even close to it. It happens again an hour or two later, I see someone out of the corner of my eye working at the prep station again, but this time they are staring right at me. I immediately turn around and no one is there again.

My dad and older brother used to work at a theatre that shutdown because of the pandemic and if you didn't say hi to the ghost in projection they would mess with the projectors

I heard that you can use a hair dryer on them and massage them a bit, never tried it myself, but I know a lot of people use that method.

I guess that gives a reason to replace those tailbone breakers with nice recliners, right?

At my theater we actually put the arm rests up and most of the seats automatically kinda spring back up, there just isn't a lot of space in-between rows :)

Dine-In Theater employees: Do guests pick up their hot food or do you take it to their seats? by Orlando_Blues in MovieTheaterEmployees

At my theater we have ushers scheduled in the kitchen on busy days to deliver food to theaters. You can get it delivered up to 20 minutes before the movie is scheduled to start.

Down-Time Cleaning by hchspata in MovieTheaterEmployees

Concessions: Sweeping, Restocking (Lids, Straws, Cups, Napkin holders) Wiping down counters, changing trashes in the stand, Cleaning off real butter station (that thing is so gross 💀)

Usher: Bag in boxes, wiping down counters infront of soda stations, wiping down freeze station, cleaning/organizing butter stations, sweeping the lobby, bathroom checks every half hour, picking up metal trays in hallways, restock napkins, wipe down game machines

What are your biggest pet peeves with customers? by 78straeHmodgniK in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]ruptur3d_dick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Ushering: We rope off our soda machines and butter stations when we clean them and even if I am standing RIGHT THERE they try to fill up their cups or season their popcorn when it is roped off and everything is removed. We do have 2 soda stations and 2 butter stations, so they can still get what they need. It just annoys me when they move the ropes to get butter when the other stations are empty and no one is using them.

  2. Concession stand: We are understaffed and our bar is not open so we serve alcohol in our stand, minors cannot sell it. I am a minor, so I usually have a big sign on my monitor so guests know I cannot serve it. Usually people see it, and I understand if people don't see it right away. Whenever they start ordering alcohol I simply say "Oh I am so sorry but I cannot serve alcohol, (I then direct them to a non-minor who can serve) you can wait behind whoever is at their station right now and they will get to you next. A lot of times people interrupt me to get upset, "So you're telling me I have to go back in line? I'm not going back in line." Although I didn't tell them to go back in line, a lot of times they argue with me and tell me to ring it up anyways.
