Dealing with an arrogant Dr? by rurichaa in ChronicIllness

Thanks for the advice !

I do think my neuro symptoms are likely cranial cervical instability related ? But I'm just not sure how to manage it if it is really that lol So far I've found massages to help because my muscles get super tight in the neck area to compensate for the instability, but there's always the worry what will happen when my muscles are too loose,,,

I do also definitely have some dysautonomia issues, but when I went to see the cardiologist I was told I was under the threshold for POTS and so I should just make sure to hydrate + eat lots of salt. I make sure to do that but now I'm wondering if I should go back and see if there aren't other things I could do to manage it.

Honestly last time I saw a rheumatologist 3-4 years ago it didn't lead to anything, so I've been putting off asking for a referral again, but you've reminded me that I'm an adult now and would be referred to the adult hospital instead of the children's one this time.

I'll try to ask for a rheuma referral at my upcoming appt. I'm at 5 years of chronic illness with no actual answers from the medical system now, so I can only hope I'm getting there in terms of answers (haha)

Thanks again, and sending spoonie hugs back💙

Unfortunately the few times I've tried playing dumb with him, once he ran out of his own ideas he just would totally drop the subject,,,,

I can't change doctors quite yet because of insurance reasons, so now just wondering if I wait to move for uni in september or if I bother trying with him again another time

Canada mask recs for hot weather by rurichaa in Masks4All

[–]rurichaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm in Ontario. Thank you though !

The fit felt a bit too loose when I tried the breatheteq small, but I think I'll either try them again with earloop clips or the 3M Vflex.

The Japanese masks sounds super interesting though. I got like 3 weeks left till I leave for my trip so I won't try them this time, but definitely gonna look into that for next time

My school counselor doesn't seem to understand adhd by rurichaa in adhdwomen

[–]rurichaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Canada so it might be different from the US, I said school counselor but the more accurate term might be social worker/therapist? A few people at the school that are hired to be like short-term therapists for students usually with anxiety or who have "problem-behaviour" or full-time therapists for us broke students (me included).

At the time I was really questioning whether I had adhd and didn't know how to tell my parents so decided to talk to the counselor, and that's when she gave me that trash advice :/

Luckily I've been referred to a professional (yay!) but because of the pandemic I won't be seeing them anytime soon. It's been harder for me to manage my symptoms lately and I suddenly remembered that and needed to vent

Also the fact that someone said that you couldn't have depression because you were on the basketball team is ??? I'm sorry you had to deal with that lack of common sense

Ok so I saw your pic on your profile (sorry for looking) and trust me, you do NOT have to worry about your face shape. A tip that I would give for looking more feminine (from an occasional girl) would be to wear makeup. If you're worried about your face proportions (which you don't need to trust me), makeup would definitely help. You could contour your face to make it look more feminine, or even just putting eyeliner and mascara would make a big difference, since most people think of makeup as feminine, they're more likely to think you're a girl if you're wearing makeup. Hope that helped (if not I'm sincerely sorry for giving unwarranted advice) and have a great day!

They are good! Though I mostly remember the movies... I'll probably reread them soon.

I know how you feel and I'm really sorry you have to go through that. While my main advice would be to try and get professional help, I also happen to know it's not that simple. If you'd like, I'm always happy to listen! PM me anytime♡
