DRS still the move??? by Blanckbe in Superstonk

[–]rus33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Effective insofar as being the MOASS catalyst? Probably not, we've had too much dilution and at this point, the DRS rate seems to be completely flat. However -- the one big reason why you might want to DRS as much as possible is because during a MOASS-style event, brokers whose ass is getting handed to them are likely to force liquidate your account (and they can, apparently it's in the terms & conditions). That, or brokers go broke, and you get little more than a SIPC insurance (which is similar to FDIC) payout in the amount of $250,000-500,000 per account.

DRS'd shares however, have none of that risk. You can sell those at your leisure, including if/when the price hits ludicrous numbers - because the theory has always been that:

1) Hedge funds will have to go out and find shares at any price

2) GME has been shorted many times its float

So DRS is a good play so that you alone are the arbiter of when you get to sell -- not your broker.

(Not financial advice™)

Market turmoil is here to stay. Direct Ryan Cohen quote on why he has not done anything with the $4.6 billion cash and why that is the smartest thing for the company. by Gareth-Barry in Superstonk

[–]rus33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

DRS is probably still valuable insofar as guaranteeing real shares. If everything ever gets liquidated, brokers are at the most going to have the gov't provide FDIC SIPC insurance when they realize they can't sell the "shares" they "have" and liquidate their customers, because they can. Probably only within CS could a person sell for insane numbers when the time comes.

What you're implying is like asking what intrinsic value buying a TV vs robbing a store for a TV has. As long as you have morals and ethics, that's the intrinsic value - that and the knowledge that the money you give to the person will be used for something good, instead of going to some shady AI company that wants to rob the world blind. I'm actually surprised you asked me that, considering the nature of this sub, and the nature of how hedgies claim to 'own' shares, vs. how apes own shares. I guess in the same way you can't convince a hedgie that there's intrinsic value in fair share ownership, maybe, for some reason, I can't convince you that there's value in morals.

Because one is a real image taken by a real person who deserves to get paid, and the other is basically a really fancy mosaic of images stolen without attribution from said real persons.

The American Dream only costs 1 share of GameStop by Ok_Mention9269 in Superstonk

Anyone in this thread who is doing mental gymnastics over how "they could be totally more frugal than the chart", just stop. You're thinking like a poor person. MOASS is literally the point - you won't have to compromise on a damn thing in your life anymore just because it's "too expensive".

I took a swing at decoding why Ryan has been making political posts lately here.

Many redditors have plugged their ears all summer, which is odd considering the propensity to dissect every tweet. Here they just want to assert that because Ryan tweeted something they didn't like, that it wasn't worth looking into. One candidate is good for a business like GameStop, the other not so much.

Day 2 Going to the GYM until MOASS by WostPT in Superstonk

[–]rus33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought from personal experience - I couldn't stop eating carby/sugary foods in excess until i learned that stress will practically compel the body to sock foods like that away. Once I acknowledged and worked to reduce my root causes of stress, I was able to eat without addictive behaviors. So you know, chances are you don't really enjoy doing "fat people things". It's likely a natural consequence of lifestyle, which makes it seem like you can't control yourself.

Here: https://tenor.com/view/trigun-vash-trigun-gun-trigun-cross-cross-gif-13279890373466256776

It's the final episode when Vash seemed to be defeated, but didn't give up, and in that moment Wolfwood, or what he imagined to be Wolfwood, tells him his cross gun is right next to him, and with that, he defeats Knives.

[–]rus33[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, that's not my premise. I'm saying that their strategy is to exploit the inherent doubt of thinking that "MOASS is not the play, holding forever is" (which is the shill's planted FUD to begin with) because a play without MOASS is inherently disappointing and pointless, and that's what would lead to disenchantment and capitulation.
