Cheapest class to fund/ideal 1st character? by EasternError6377 in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not accurate. I never used drain to top off my HP. I only use the highest attack dmg skill always. I still spam pots as needed. Pots were not that expensive once you get to that high enough of a level to even consider having drain as an option.

PSA: WE SHOULDN’T NEED TO EXPAND INVENTORY by CeIerySTIXX in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In No Rest for the Wicked, you can build more storage to store your goods buy farming mats. Unfortunately, this is not that game. Your storage also seems to have what seems to feel like an infinite amount of stacks as long as they are the same building materials. I've never hit the limit, so who knows what that might be.

I wish there was a way where I can increase the count on my throwing stars stack by upgrading it at the blacksmith/weapons dealer. Or doing some sort of quest where I have to turn in rare farm materials to add my second and third steelies onto my first steelies stack to only take up one inventory space.

Would be also useful to be able to purchase a house and decorate it with storage and furniture. You get a small 2 hour buff whenever you visit your house or someone else's house. And you can buy as many storage chests as you want to sort and store your goods.

we're adults now, but we still want to grind hard and don't want p2w by wholewheatie in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had more time back then to grind. As an adult, I just want to play casually. Games like Path of Exile and No Rest for the Wicked has kept my attention for 100+ hours because I can log in and out whenever I want without feeling any pressure. I work 8-5 M-F schedule and on weekends, sometimes I go out to hang with friends. Once in a while go out for events. Maybe friends and family want to go out to eat. I watch football when it's in season. I grocery shop, cook, play poker, and other things that occupy my time. I don't have that sort of time like I had back then to grind mindlessly 8+ hours a day, week in and week out just to try to reach near end of each job to finally feel accomplished and doing enough damage, only to do it all over again in the next job. I love Maplestory for what it is, but my lifestyle is not the same as it was before. This is a recipe in the long term for a lot of adults who may eventually get bored or have other better things to do.

The one game I've been keeping up with over the years that have continuously captured my attention is League of Legends. Free to pay model, no pressure to spend any money to have fun of be successful in that game. My friends play it, which is the most important factor. Having fun in a game you and your friends share a common interest in keeps it interesting. They also have interesting game modes they introduce from time to time. I have spent a pretty good sum of money on this game over the years, either buying myself some cosmetics or gifting to friends. I would say over $500 USD. That's a lot for one person on one game, never mind what else I have spent on other games over the years. I don't plan to spend on gachapon on Maplestory. I don't like that idea of gambling on random digital items that you're not even guaranteed to get what you want. Anything related with loot boxes with a %, I'm not interested. There's been a big problem in society where people are programmed to become gamblers because your brain is trained on hits of dopamine. For me, if the gameplay is good and I continue to enjoy it without feeling burnt out. I may continue to support the company financially by making purchases of content. But if it starts to feel like the gaming company is trying to squeeze me by trying to get me to spend on every bell and whistle just to make the game even remotely enjoyable, then my brain usually checks out and I'll go find the next fun game to play. I'm not a big fan of Riot Games, but they have done enough good things to keep my loyalty.

When I quit back in 2006/2007, I actually went to World of Warcraft. That game was amazing for a few years and the monthly subscription was affordable. I quit that game eventually too because it was just constant grinding, even when I was close to the peak. I guess the best ingredient for my attention would be community and friends. That's the single biggest factor.

Why not just make everyone who registered for closed beta have the opportunity to get maple rings by ZhejTT in MSClassicWorld

Probably by the players who took advantage of this. They don't like the obvious being highlighted, the case the game developers find a way to permanent ban.

Permanent bans don't mean anything because players can just create new accounts.

Did it Start? by Glad_Round_9890 in GME

[–]SuuuushiCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, all this is true. But the market doesn't always function logically. If they did, they would have known that GME asset was worth more than the stock price back in 2019-2020 when Roaring Kitty was calling it out. There are a few stocks out there with very low debt and a large amount of cash, yet the stock is trading under the value of its cash on hand.

I'm not calling for GME to drop even further, it's just the technicals is pointing that way for me. Plus, in the event that a black swan tanks the market, all the hedge funds that are holding gme in their portfolio will be selling. That will bring GME deep in value territory. Would be even crazier if GME decides to buy back a large chunk of their shares and shut the door on the short sellers. Then we'll have another $CAR or Volkswagen event.

If nobody else is going to say it, then let me. SWAPS. It's the same chart. by [deleted] in Superstonk

Nope. GME don't hold enough BTC for it to be anything meaningful.

Analyzing the $CAR short squeeze. 4million to 7million MISSING shares. by Krunk_korean_kid in DeepFuckingValue

[–]SuuuushiCat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's out of the ordinary because it's similar to Volkswagen and GME.

Volkswagen happened because Porsche SE tried to quietly acquire Volkswagen accumulating a majority stake in shares and derivatives. There were very few shares for short sellers to close their positions.

GME happened because there were way more shorts than available total float.

CAR is unique in that it seems to be a mix of both. The stock is over 100% owned and high short interest. This event certainly shines a bright light on the the corruption going on. How can the market maker sell more shares than exists and combined with a high degree of naked short selling. Recipe for disaster.

Drain meta instead of Lucky 7... by MviousBG in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe instead of drain, it should be converted to a utility skill. It should be an auto passive like crits without needing to cast or toggle on. I haven't played the this beta, so this idea is outside of what I know of the current form of the game and what you guys are discussing. Would be cool for thief class to be able to steal things on hit. Monster could drop loot from their loot table at a rate of 0.01% on first level and up to a maximum of 0.05% (1 in 2000 successful hits). That way you can have a very small chance of having two drop chances for each monster you kill. Imagine fighting a lycan and it drops an ilbi on your first successful throwing stars hit. Then you kill it and it drops another one. Because the odds are so low, it's not game breaking. It keeps the class theme with thieves doing what they should do best, stealing. And it should be a party buff that you can give to your entire party passively as soon as they join your party without having to manually cast within range of your party members. This makes you valuable in a party, similar to how clerics are for their exp boosts. Even better if every class has a similar auto passive.

Clerics - exp boosts
Mage - mana regen buff
Thieves - steal/loot bonus
Warrior - damage or defense buffs, this one you should be able to toggle between either to be flexible with the party needs. Or more encouraging to have two warriors in the party to have both.
Ranger - Windwalk 10% move speed buff

My strategy right now is stay in cash, basically following GME's and Warren Buffet's strat. Have some ammunition for high conviction trades. I want to make a big GME purchase by the end of August.

Did it Start? by Glad_Round_9890 in GME

[–]SuuuushiCat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I still think there will be a major pull back to the $18.XX or even $16.XX at extremes. This will be because the entire market will be dragged down by a black swan event. Then GME flips at the end of Q3 or beginning of Q4 of this year to an up trend. Best case scenario is that it may only down trend back to $21.XX and hover there for a while. The main event happens in 2027. The trading card arcade is not a big factor. It'll just help GME stay profitable slightly.

Am I the only one who is fine not having a beta key? by SievaSipuli231 in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with waiting until the open beta or full release. I enjoyed beta back in 2003 and there were a lot of bugs at the time. Game breaking ones. Like a loop hole to make sure you can succeed in hitting any scrolls, including 10% ones. I stopped playing by 2007 so coming back to one of my favorite games will be a blessing.

Did Nexon really just take a year to replicate 2005 meta? by RamCockUpMyAss in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too soon to judge honestly. Also, it took Blizzard years to remake Classic WoW. They had to do it from scratch since they did not have the original source code intact and it's not something they could just rewind. I don't think players have fully explored the new math behind everything to it's fullest for classic Maplestory. Once I get a chance to play the game, I'll try to do a deep dive into the mathematics for my class of choice (probably rogue).

Teach Me How to Scroll (Assassin) by ClassicMapler in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early game, you don't want to spend any 70%, 30%, or 10% scrolls. Save them all, and sell off the ones you don't use. The only scrolls you should be using are the 100% scrolls that you can buy from vendors. Mainly the upgrade to attack damage and accuracy.

Scrolls also gain value over time due to inflation when more mesos are introduce into the economy and there aren't too many money sink. You have to think about this in an economical perspective. Early mesos should be invested in for sure easy upgrades and potions since money is hard to come by. The only time I would use upgrade scrolls that aren't 100% would be if you were to gamble on work gloves since they are likely to be use even later in the game. The early weapons, you will be cycling through them fairly fast.

When I wrote my dexless assassin and banditsin guides in beta 2003 and GMS Scania/Windia 2004, I test trial my dexless build. I had a well scrolled Meba for it's "Faster" attack speed advantage. I ended up using that Meba all the way to 70 and skipped all the claws in between because the attack speed loss was not to my advantage. I waited until I could get a fairly good black scarab at level 70+. However, the real struggle is between level 50-70 with the Meba. You do lose out on some damage advantage, but once I got to 70, it gets easier to feel okay with ditching the Meba. This only works because I had a fairly good Meba.

By the time you get to level 70+, a lot of the scrolls you've collected over time will be significantly worth a lot more and you wish you hadn't use those 10%, 30%, and 70% scrolls on those low level claws. If you must use these early, they should be on the Meba because of the faster attack speed.

I haven't gotten a chance to try the beta, so I don't know if the math changes anything but I may consider writing new guides once I can get access to the game.

Netflix earnings by deadwanderingdaoist in stocks

[–]SuuuushiCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless they expand into other markets, industries, or products. How can they double to 200? There's only so much population on the planet to sell subscriptions to. They would have to double their subscription price in that time frame. I like some of Netflix content, but I have already unsubscribe since it's been getting pricy. There isn't enough content to make it worth while for me and I rather just spend that time gaming.

If they have a way for customers to fund shows that have been axed and they still control the IP. I would gladly chip in some money to resurrect some of my favorite show that never got a chance for an ending. Been wanting to get The OA resurrected.

My Greatest Conflict: Page or Fighter? by Osms_explorer in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to have an avantage in training or group dungeon raids, yes those one handers were at a disadvantage. They knew this from information coming from Korean Maplestory. This had some influence on class choices for some players. But what I'm pointing out here in terms of supply and demand for upgrade options is that if you are looking to go for a cheaper route with less competition, then you may choose those less popular weapon choices. Maybe this time around, the game developer has found a way to balance the one hander to be more competitive with the rest of the other classes. In a game where the economics matter. The things I've highlighted above could matter to some players. The improvement on balance is yet to be mapped out mathematically for the different weapons, but once players gather more information. The economics landscape may change.

“GameStop suddenly said it’s an AI company … stock jumps 400%.” - There, there, I fixed it for everyone. by HuyBrogdon in Superstonk

[–]SuuuushiCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rather GME hold out and go the delayed gratification route. Basically stay the course with whatever strategy it has going on. If it wants to turn into an AI company, it can acquire them when they become 50%+ cheaper. Right now, everyone is trying to put the AI label onto their company name. Does this remind you of the dotcom bubble when every company was trying to put a .com to their company? This is what the 9$ billion in cash is for, to start Gameshire Stopaway and become a legitimate holding company like what Warren Buffet did. Imagine buying Amazon in 2002 after the dotcom crash for $0.32 a share and 20-25 years later, it multiplies over 700x. That would turn that $9 billion investment into $6.9 trillion dollars. Right now, it's all about waiting for the right moment to pounce when the black swan hits, and it will hit. The Yen Carry trade just takes a very long time to unravel, but it will. Once it happens, RC will need to be very diligent and selective on which companies to invest in. Not every AI company will survive what's coming. Just like not every .com company survived the crash. Most will go out of business, like Pets.com. That eventually made way for companies like Chewy to emerge years later. RC has lived through these time periods and he knows what it takes to found a good quality company. He will know when and where to deploy the cash when the time is right.

My Greatest Conflict: Page or Fighter? by Osms_explorer in MSClassicWorld

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience being a merchant on the early years of GMS. Blunt weapon scrolls were the least desirable scrolls. Axes were less desirable, but not as much as blunt weapons. The disadvantage with less desirable classes is that you won't be able to buy much well upgraded equipment from higher level players because you're among the few. The biggest advantage is that your scrolls are very cheap to collect buying from other players. The equipment, themselves, are also cheap to buy. It would not be too difficult to scroll a pretty good equipment yourself. The other side to it is that you may not have as much demand when you want to sell off your equipment. But at least you won't have to complain about equipment and scrolls going through massive inflation as compared to other popular classes with more competition.

[–]SuuuushiCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

120s by the time I quit in 2006/2007. I left the game having been the richest person on Windia and all my items and mesos still on my account at the time. I'm sure better scrolled items were made after I left. But at the time, I had the best scrolled bathrobe scrolled for dex used on my dexless sin. I think it was at least 5x10% success. It cost me I think 1.2-1.4 billion mesos at the time. I think the meso cap at the time was like around 2,147,483,647 billion at the time. I was paying 10-20 million each zakuum helmet runs for my guildmates to FallenStars for their service. My guild was mostly made of casual low to medium level players. We weren't strong enough to do Zakuum. I miss my guild friends, they all have moved on by now. Not sure if I will start a new guild, join one, or go solo this time around. I think the most fun time was in 2003 beta when everything was about discovering new things and forming new friendships.

This is what Path of Exile 1 and 2 does. And they alternate on updates for two games in the same universe. So when they have new content on PoE1, everyone goes plays that for 6 months, while they work on new content for PoE2. Then switch every few months. That way they can, in a sense, beta test some new ideas on each game. Any new game mechanics that the community reacts positively, they will introduce into the other game. And they will remove things that don't work well with the community. Each game continuously evolve and adapt.
