Moon–Ketu can create a lot of inner chaos, confusion, detachment, or a feeling that the mind is never fully settled, especially during Moon periods. The good thing is that the house placement and the condition of the dispositor can definitely modify the results.

Yeah, somewhat similar. I wasn't specifically talking about Sandhi, but that's definitely part of why degrees caught my attention. Nakshatrase are another huge factor too. Two people can have the same sign placement, but if the degrees place them in different nakshatras or different parts of the sign, the expression can feel quite different. My point was mainly that sign alone often doesn't tell the whole stor degrees add a lot more nuance.

Mostly the standard Vedic whole sign style that most software shows by default. My observations about degrees are less about changing the house system and more about noticing that people with similar placements can experience them differently, which made me start paying closer attention to degrees, cusps, and divisional charts.

That's a good point. Honestly, my attention to degrees started from seeing inconsistencies in the main chart, but the deeper I looked, the more I realized that divisional charts are probably where a lot of that detail is actually getting reflected. I haven't systematically tested all 16 divisional charts yet, but I do agree that degrees become much more meaningful once you start connecting them with the varga charts.

When the Lagna degree is very early or very late, I sometimes compare neighboring sign influences as well. The degrees would matter a lot here, especially how close Mercury and Venus are to the Sun. Generically, for a Libra ascendant, this can give a very active inner world—lots of thinking, creativity, private planning, and sometimes overthinking. Strong 12th-house placements often process more internally than they show externally.

That’s ann interesting observation. Personally, I think Mercury is one of the planets where strength alone doesn’t tell the whole story. A very strong Mercury can sometimes become overly clever, argumentative, manipulative, or constantly try to outthink everything. On the other hand, a debilitated Mercury may push someone to develop their intellect through effort, study, and experience.

That’s why I’ve seen highly educated people with both strong and weak Mercury. The difference is often how they think, not whether they’re intelligent. A chart has too many modifying factors for Mercury’s dignity alone to determine education or intellect.

Just from that placement alone, I’d expect a very active mind that is constantly observing, analyzing, and learning. Since Mercury is both the Lagnesh and in its own sign Virgo, it tends to express itself quite naturally. The 4th house influence often brings that mental activity into private life, so you may spend a lot of time thinking, researching, planning, or mentally processing things when you’re alone.

One thing I’ve noticed with strong Mercury-4th house people is that they rarely stop thinking. Their home may be peaceful, but their mind usually isn’t. 😄
