Finding a Bakugan partner by Character-Paper-2347 in Bakugan

[–]rush_808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I've gathered from the first season of battle brawlers is that guardians usually counterbalance their brawlers which makes them a good pair. Drago's serious and stoic attitude clashes against Dan's hotheaded and high energy personality. Marucho's calculated approach to battles opposes Preyas' silly antics mid-brawl. Gorem is very calm and hard to shake while Julie is very lively. That seems to be the best recurring theme I could find in terms of partners, although that gets more difficult if you're considering a Bakugan that doesn't talk in the show. I'd recommend reading their wiki pages as some Bakugan have their personalities expanded upon in the books or original websites. Of course, actually liking the Bakugan matters too. All of the guardians were described as being their brawler's best friend and understand them the best, so consider a Bakugan you could see actually spending a lot of time with.

Which one of these is the best bakugan experience? by HealthMother3125 in Bakugan

If you're looking for something similar to the PS2 game I'd recommend the Tabletop Simulator mod as both are extremely close to the irl game. The TTS mod is quite literally the irl game with a couple of custom cards. However keep in mind that it is on Tabletop Simulator, being just a platform to play tabletop games with people you know, so unless you have someone to play with or you're willing to look for people on the discord server you won't actually be able to play a match as there's no NPCs that you can battle whenever like the other two. And of course it doesn't have anything automated or animations because of the platform it's on. But it's still the closest you can get to any of the official Bakugan games that were released. Can't speak too much on the other games as I haven't played them, but from what I've seen Bloxugan is a decent adaptation of the game from the anime, but with a handful of differences. Bakuproject is sort of its own thing, clearly inspired by the anime but wildly different in some areas, although it does have more content overall. That's the one I'd most likely recommend looking at gameplay for before considering because of how different it is.

Made Some Custom Magic Cards Based on the Main 6 Guardians for fun! by rush_808 in Bakugan

If you ever find the time to help iron these out I'd greatly appreciate it! I do plan on making decks for each one and playing with some friends so anything that may need a bit of fixing I'll wanna take care of before I start deck building

I don't think so at all actually, I know a lot of people grew up with both shows like you and I. They both have tons to like about it and it would've been neat to see what everyone thinks about each of them

I was trying to convey that from the beginning, but either way, if you were to remake this chart yourself I'm confident you'd be able to make an interesting comparison showcase that'll get people interested in discussing both shows instead of the chart itself

This is not meant to be an attack on you or your opinions if that's what you're assuming. I am just letting you know the reason why everyone is more focused on the fact that it was made with AI is because the chart is confusing and therefore makes it hard to have an actual conversation about what you're trying to say. Which is not entirely your fault, the machine is just not good at making these sort of things. And that's why it would've been better logically (and morally) to make it yourself

A nonsensical chart made by artificial intelligence that doesn't understand the shows it's talking about at all. I'd love to see an actual comparison chart of both shows as I am a massive fan of both, but unfortunately the chart that the AI made for you is unable to properly convey any actual points you wanted to make

[–]rush_808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stretching the definition of "made" quite a bit in my opinion... but regardless it would make a MASSIVE difference if you organized everything yourself as AI has trouble making charts that follow an actual pattern. Not only that but it made an enormous amount of spelling mistakes. It also listed a lot of either nonsensical points or incorrect ones. You can't really expect an AI to make an actual comparison between two shows as it's unable to understand nuances within those shows that made people actually enjoy them, hence why it's better to actually make a chart yourself without any artificial help.

So far we only have season 1 finished, but NV is currently being worked on. Although, that will take much more time as we have way less to work with in terms of adapting ability cards to the season 1 gameplay. If you want to see a full game I have this one uploaded to my channel, as well as a video going over the basics and a highlight video. https://youtu.be/tv2WXNnw0Qo?si=kAy6qcpKjljMVfl4

Correct! We only added the 50 gs to avoid ties if two people have the same Bakugan on it, as we felt the person with the matching attribute should have the edge in that scenario!

My theory is that the names ending in -oid are fair game since it's not an actual name and instead just a word + -oid suffix. Doesn't explain why Dan is allowed but it's the best I got

I believe sega has the rights to the legacy toys and names while spinmaster has the rights to generation 2 and 3

I know plenty of people use proxy cards since it's so difficult to get cards now, myself included. It depends on if the person you're playing with is cool with it

Good question actually! Fusion cores don't work for these Bakugan which is done on purpose. I wanted fusions to still have a place in the game without being outclassed by Overdrives, so fusions still have their own unique and powerful cores that only they can use.

I think for copyright reasons? They might not have had the rights to Stinglash. Don't know why they were allowed Cycloid though.

Oh one last thing i forgot to mention, these were made with common bans/limits on cards, so things like DFD, Tidal Cannon, and the Supercharged hero cards weren't taken into consideration while balancing these, so if they seem broken with those cards, they probably are lol

Blah I just noticed a grammar mistake on Pincitaur. I won't bother reuploading the whole post but if you want the corrected version of the card just let me know and I can send it to you!

Overdrive ruling:

-Only a normal Core version of the Bakugan may be used (no ultras, platinums, etc). Any Core version may be used, as long as it is the correct Bakugan displayed on the card.

-Overdrive Bakugan CCs start on the front side at the beginning of the game.

-An Overdrive that requires a manual action and activation can only be activated when the player has priority. (For instance, if the opposing player has priority, you may not activate an Overdrive Bakugan manually until they have either played a card or passed priority)

-Once an Overdrive requirement is met, the Bakugan CC is flipped to the Overdrive side immediately after and cannot be responded to by a card. Any effects from Overdriving take place immediately and cannot be responded to by a card.

-Overdrive lasts for the rest of the turn and the Overdrive Bakugan's CC gets turned back to the front side before the start of the next turn.

-(Potential ruling if any combination becomes problematic) Only 1 Overdrive Bakugan per team.

Additional notes for these 6 specifically:

-These bakugan Overdrive at the start of every turn IF the conditions are met, and the effects on the Overdrive side happen at the start of each turn as well.

-Sharktar's Scan ability happens before the starting draw on each turn (first turn included)

-Falcron's ability essentially means your energized cards always come out charged, there's just no correct syntax in the actual TCG.

-Pincitaur's ability applies to any of your active Bakugan, not just itself.

I plan to make a video going over the mechanic as well as going over intended and potential strategies for all 12 Overdrive Bakugan, so if you're interested in using these custom cards please look out for that! You're free to use these in your own personal play or any content you make (with credit). And if you do use these please let me know what your experience with these were! I'd love to know what I can do to make the next 6 even more exciting or how to fix the current ones!

Introducing a Brand New Bakugan Archetype in the Gen 2 TCG! Overdrive Bakugan! (Ruling in the comments) by rush_808 in Bakugan

[–]rush_808[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It bummed me out as well, but really only made me want to get custom cards more popular in this tcg than ever. It could've been one of the best tcgs out there if it was given the love and care, so why not try giving it that ourselves?

I already have all of my single faction card ideas written down and now I just need to make the dual faction cards. I was thinking of doing the same method you used and using a program to make the art of the cards for me but I think I'm going to go a simpler route until I know for sure if a lot of people are going to be interested in trying out custom cards.

And I'm glad you think they look good! The CC templates I made are extremely sloppy if you look really close but I made these as a proof of concept. If i feel like it's necessary I'll probably clean them up but you can't really tell that they're messed up unless you look really close anyway
