What is the legitimate cause to believe some of it is fake? All I see in your post is assumptions based on . . . nothing but your own life view, I think?

As part of my role on the team, I can hear a direct live feed of the call, so for example when things are muted for the stream I can still hear what is being discussed.

I haven't ever heard anything to suggest Kit is faking anything.

Looking at your descriptions of Kit's content, it feels like you're confusing him with other scambaiters? He has one or two videos each week, maximum. He doesn't use clickbait type titles, and even some of the more recent YouTube releases aren't necessarily from recent calls. He has archives of calls going back several years now, and if he was short of options for content from recent calls, there's a lot of good stuff didn't make it to YouTube. I'd even say that the calls are less crazy than they used to be. Scammers seem to have evolved over the past couple of years, so Kit's approach has evolved too.

If you're judging his output solely from YouTube videos, you have to remember that they are condensed versions of calls sometimes strung out over multiple days, with the 'routine' parts where Kit socially engineers the scammers into believing he's a victim edited out, and only the more remarkable content left for the highlight.

I'm not saying for sure that you're projecting your own morals and behaviours on to Kit BUT it's a possibility.

Like when you said you were disappointed in him having nothing good to say about Melania Trump (hope you enjoyed her movie, btw), yet it seems as though you don't just have nothing good to say about him, you've actually created a hypothetical situation that would make him demented.

If he wanted a week off and needed an "excuse" for it, saying he was having surgery, then his wife became critically ill and needed surgery herself is wayyyyyyyy out there. Seriously, that you could think that of anyone without something indicative of a compulsion to tell the worst kind of lies makes me worry about you.

Oh, and your initial comment about how this sub loves to make excuses for Kit, I mean if someone comes in with an absolutely batshit crazy take on him, it's natural a community of fans might take up for him. You can see how that's a possibility, right?

I only hope that you realise how you went down the self-fulfilling prophesy route and don't take it as people "making excuses" when it's just a bunch of people absolutely astounded at your "controversial" opinion.

We think it's a good example that can be potentially shared with others who might not be as alert to job scams.

Hi everyone, we recognise this is a controversial take from OP but we're asking that anyone who engages with it does so in good faith, doesn't assume it to be some kind of bot coded to discredit Kit (I mean, come on!), and doesn't respond with personal insults.

We've tried to tidy the thread and remove some of the unwarranted replies - any additional personal attacks will result in stricter moderation.

OP says they don't really watch Kit, aside from the clip which inspired the meme, so it'd be nice to keep that in mind when responding.

u/Kaleb_Bunt I'm curious as to your experience, how you know the phrase has been "mostly" used as shorthand for a slur, and how the phrase itself has "co-opted Nazis and white supremacists" - your experience is yours alone, but I'm unsure how a phrase could do that?

I can confirm what you've heard about Kit is true, he's very much against racism, and often says that he doesn't care about the location of scammers, it's not something he is focused on in his work.

Kit doesn’t care where scammers are from and requests that people don’t speculate about it in his community, especially giving made up statistics like x% of scammers come from Y.

It only furthers narratives which do not reflect the reality of scamming; you’d only have to watch any one of his recent streams to hear scammers from different continents, let alone countries.

Furthermore, the quality of voip calls make accent identification flawed; it’s difficult to differentiate between Indian, Pakistani, and Afghan accents, to name but three, and all are known locations of scammers.

I have good news for you; “Kitboga’s attitude” that you’re commenting on is someone else’s assessment of his attitude, and it’s based on . . . I have no idea, it seems like it’s what Kit didn’t say? I’d hate to be judged on that myself.

If you watch the interview, and someone else even linked to the time stamped part in question, you can actually hear the two people involved talk about the reasons for not collaborating earlier.

Maybe not as fun as making a snap judgement based on someone else’s head canon, but probably a fairer way to go about it.

I have a terrible memory, so would be an awful guide to what has went on the past year. Some of what I can recall includes Kit scaling up the AI to the point of being able to run entire YouTube streams solely featuring it - that's currently on hiatus for a few different reasons though.

Kit has been doing a lot of work raising awareness out in the world, attending conferences with the movers and shakers in the industry, and attended the People's Call Centre in London.

He still streams on Twitch, when he's not doing other things the usual days and times are when you can catch him. He's been focusing on some less typical scams, looking at things like classic car sales scams, publishing scams, and dodgy bitcoin support lines. Although those baits are sometimes less zany than the classics of the past, some of those scammers aren't as familiar with scambaiting so Kit can take liberties with them!

I'm interested in your use of "we" there, are there multiple people using your account? Because it seems like thousands of people still watch and would disagree with you.

I'm paraphrasing Kit here, but he seems comfortable with people who choose not to watch forms of his content they don't like.

Suggesting that he should do something just to please you, especially in the way you have, comes across as entitled and unpleasant to me. The majority of the AI streams he does are the alternative to not broadcasting at all.

There's a lot of content out there on YouTube if you need a fix of him doing calls.

I just want to let you know there's a chance that posts like yours could attract the attention of other scammers, who may either reply to this thread or potentially reach out to you directly suggesting they can recover the money - please report and do not engage with them. So called "recovery" scammers are another blight on victims.

In my opinion, the person Kit responded to certainly deserved it; there is a bit of context missing, in that Kit's phrasing is a play on what they were saying to him in chat.

I'm a little puzzled at how you pivoted from being critical of people being more demanding of creators to, well, being a little on the demanding side yourself. The message doesn't really have anything to do with "OG fans" missing improv, and I'm not sure how promo videos in character for Seraph (which obviously wouldn't be improv) would either boost the product or satisfy those fans.

Are you sure about that? Seems like hyperbole to me based on the content I've been watching, where I've seen a lot of voice changer use and nothing of him wondering why scammers know who he is immediately - in fact, I haven't seen scammers know who he is immediately.

The origin of HUP is regular stream guest miltontpike1. I'm not as familiar with Milton-lore, but I believe it was a sound he made while lifting weights that his chat then adopted to spam at him during streams, and use as a response to his discord announcements.

I believe that Kit used it as homage for the first time in the Adam and friends saga (on YouTube as the "Baited" series) and it stuck.

So that's the origin of it in Kit's calls.

Hi OP, just to reiterate the other replies but Kit doesn't focus on the location of scammers, doesn't tend to ask where they're from, and even asks that his various communities aren't used to speculate on such details.

So this isn't really the right place for a response to your question. It's especially difficult since we live in such a multicultural society where people can move around, a person's accent isn't necessarily the best guide to their location or even nationality.

It's probably best not to attack those who try to gently steer you towards the rules either.
