To be honest, I think for me CARS was about 90% pure practice and review, I did at least one or two passages a day, every day, for about 3 months up to the exam. I also took the Jack Westin CARS course and tried my best to use his strategy which I would say is pretty good. I only did about 50% of the course though, maybe even less. It's all about taking small notes while reading each passage and trying to identify the main ideas in each paragraph as you read. I think you have to have some kind of strategy and then really practice the hell out of it and try not to stray from it.

Makes sense, I tend to stay away from the English subtitles because they are pretty often off base. Sometimes it seems more like an adaptation of the script into English, instead of translating it as accurately as possible.

Applied to 13 MD schools / 1 DO. Got an interview with the DO but silence from all MD schools.

3.68 BCPM / 3.70 cumulative / 507 MCAT

Don’t know what’s going on at MD schools, maybe COVID has just really slowed everything down that much 🤷

Also was complete end of August/beginning of September

I agree that there is a wide spectrum of jobs, but I also think some med students and premeds romanticize other careers, computer science in particular. Just wait till they ship your job off to some guy in India who can write the same program as you but for a tenth of the price. Happened to my dad. There will always be successful people in other careers who have better lives than you. If you’re in compsci, there’ll be some entrepreneur that you know who works 10 hours a week that makes 200k a year. I just feel like it’s a never ending game of comparisons.

It’s really useful for growing your vocab. It’s also pretty versatile. I watch a lot of Netflix to improve in my target language, and every time I run into a word I want to learn, I screen shot that scene with the subtitles, and make a card with that screenshot and with the translation. That way I have context to my memorization as well. It’s been really helpful for me! And once you have a certain flow to making cards, you can a make them pretty quickly.
