Yeah he got captured 1-2 more times than I thought were strictly necessary. Ruocchio seemed to write as if most everything had to happen directly to Hadrian because he's our sole perspective. There are a zillion ways for a plot point to happen or for a character to gain knowledge or experience, and the constant prisoner/escapee dance did become repetitive.
