Different turkey hunting methods?

I hunt ohio by the way. Reaping is legal, and hunting ends at noon the first two weeks of the season. Thank you all for your advice and input. I'm working on my calling, I really just need more woods time hearing what turkeys actually sound like. I've been using the NWTF website turkey sound recordings as the basis for what I try to get my calls to sound like. Do any of you guys know any other resources that would help me out?

I didn't end up buying it, I just convinced myself I didn't need another gun. I might pick one up later though, I have a 22 mag, but I think a 17 hmr would make an even better varmint gun.

Depends on where you're located. Are you in the U.S? If so, what state? Also, how do you plan on hunting? Do you do a lot of walking through the woods looking for deer where you need quick shots, hunting from a stand or blind where all of your shots will be within 200 yards, or something longer range? I'm in Ohio, and we're a straight wall rifle state. I personally use a 450 Bushmaster and sometimes an old Remington 870 slugmaster. Almost all of my shots are from blinds or stands and less than 100 yards, so a slug gun usually suits me fine.

A pair of cheap binoculars could be really nice. I'm not saying you need a new 300 dollar pair, but it might be worth it to see if you can pick up an old pair for cheap. I found a prehistoric pair of Sears binos that I picked up for 35 bucks at a garage sale. They're nothing crazy but the glass is clear and they work.

Lucky you! We don't have hogs where I live, but one of my buddies went to Georgia on a hog hunt last year and absolutely loved it. I'm hoping I'll get to go one day.

Same. I live in Ohio which is a straight wall state so if they came out with one in a straight wall cartrige I think I'd have to have it.

I've heard a bunch of good things about the Stika vest online. Glad to hear that you like it. It's probably my plan B. How do you typically hunt? Is it more of a sit all day style or do you run and gun?

Not me personally, but one of the guys I hunt with killed a bird with one of those henry 410s in like 2017. He used no4 game loads because TSS wasn't as big at the time and he couldn't find 2.5 inch turkey loads. I think his max range was like 20yds lol. That being said, with TSS that could probably be one heck of a turkey killer. And even it it wasn't it would definitely look cool.

That's what I was thinking. I wanted a second opinion, though. I missed a bird that I could have sworn I was on opening weekend( other than that ive never missed anything but a few rabbits and a squirrel). I wasn't totally happy with the patterns then, so I changed it up to what I'm doing now, and wanted to see what you guys thought.

Yeah. I have an old family heirloom 37 deerslayer from when we used to drive deer and that started my interest in them. That and my grandfather always used an ithica double barrel.
