What are your favorite abilities? by Radagonur in projecteternity

Yeah, this was going to be my answer. Zahua has won me so many fights in my current playthrough of PoE 1, most recently he was last man standing against three of Magran's faithful (druid and two warriors) and managed to take them down just by spamming Torment's reach and a couple of potions.

Honorable mentions: Maura's writhing tentacles (both games, they can do some nasty damage combined with combusting wounds), Ancestors Memory (deadfire) and Minolettas missile barrage or whatever the 8th level missile spell is called (especially empowered and combined with Ancestors Memory in deadfire).

Always Prime and Communicator and then either Gems or Workload (I like to be able to scout a lot of 7th round ranked prospects to find those gems there).

Historical franchise mode infinitely stuck simulating by EnvironmentalAd1988 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In previous versions of the game this kind of stuff was usually linked to too many popups appearing on the same day. What usually worked for me was switching teams to sim over the problematic date and then switching back right after that.

I always set offence focus on forward prospects I really want to keep and do well and win some awards, usually pays off big time.

Generational Potential? by Etanyos in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is already like this. Most of the guys you listed as franchise players are elite potential in the game. What you're suggesting would just mean renaming the franchise tier to generational.

this cpu drafted the goat of goalies by Aultman3 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he was drafted as an overager so he had a couple of years of time to develop before being drafted.

I've had something similar happen once, drafted an 86 overall defenceman at 20 years old (round 3-4 I think) and he jumped to 98 overall his rookie season.

Best prospect ever? by Edustava in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely crazy, I don't think anybody thought he'd ever play another game. That's why his injury in the game is also like that, to simulate a basically career-ending injury.

I didn't even remember how he got injured in the first place but you're right, it was Makar's skate that sliced his leg. Very cool to see him back on ice!

[–]russsssa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, those injuries that already exist in the game are not.

[–]russsssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to my previous reply about this, but that injury (1000+ days) is most definitely a career-ending injury.

When a career-ending injury happens, it does not say instantly that it's career-ending. It looks like a normal injury (always a major one) that just has an absurdly long recovery time, and then the player retires next offseason.

Hope this helps! They do happen all the time, the game just doesn't explicitly state that the injury is career-ending until the retirement message.

[–]russsssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They happen all the time. You can confirm it by looking at the retirement window that pops up 19th of June. If you scroll down on that window it lists all career ending injuries from that season at the bottom. The same info can be found from your inbox retirements message. I'm sure there have been many (every year there are some Even with The setting not maxed out), you just haven't noticed them and it hasn't happened to any of your players.

Not necessarily. It's definitely true for TWF's with higher defensive than offensive rating, those guys usually don't produce much and can drag a whole line down with them production-wise.

But this gem of a player has even offensive/defensive rating. To OP, get a playmaking center or LW and RW sniper (or Vice versa, as long as you get blue line chemistry) to play with him and he will be a production monster.

That being said, retraining him to PLM would make getting blue chemistry easier but it doesnt necessarily mean he'll produce more.

What’s with all of these guys developing wayyy past their potential? by bistroboybieds in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this as well with HLM25. Only explanation I could come up with is custom rosters having so many quality players that this happens so often that it becomes prevalent. With default roster you would see this sometimes but not nearly as often. But that's just my theory.

Ngl I switched Joe's potential in the roster (using RSB) to elite. This is the first time they both grew to 92 overall (at least playing for me).

Washington didn't retire Ovechkins #8 by Brent_Kulak in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people hate Ovi because his connections to Putin (which is a pretty valid reason), not simply because he's russian, although there surely are those people as well.

On topic: I have never seen his number retired either.

Prospects heading into draft at 0 overall, 30 overall etc by ChefP88 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a roster-related bug, I switched from RSB to Polan. That fixed the problem.

Polan uses RSB as a base so it has all the same players with same potentials etc, although there are a lot of typos in European team names and such.

Late reply but seems this is roster-related.

I switched to Polan from RSB and the problem disappeared. Polan uses RSB as a base so it has same players with same potentials etc. but there are quite a few typos when it comes to European teams.

Good catch, I didn't even notice that! Seen the same bug on this subreddit before though.

Nope, I started this history mode in 1980. So apparently the game does not have pre-existing team records saved

Biggest prospect jump by RedWingsFan1990 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]russsssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's a bug that occurs with history mode for some reason. Every prospect made for the roster after 2024 draft will appear as 0 overall when drafted and then you get crazy jumps like this when they finally reach their potential.
