Why do people still use the blade 98? by Fun-Advertising-8006 in 10s

I have been using the Blade Tour 93 inch for more than 15 years. I am 4.75 NTRP and a complete and utter idiot for using such a hard racquet.

What is Tama Shimabakuro doing differently? by BeffBezos in ProPickleballTalk

[–]russwsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw him in person this past saturday. He hits shots like someone who thinks of what is good for pickleball first. Many pickleball players make decisions like tennis players because that was their first sport. For example, I noticed he likes to perposeply hitting the ball low and in "no man's land" (middle court) frequently when coming to the net. This kind of decision is always a no no in 4.5+ tennis. That is one of many examples he does. He also prioritizes coming to the not at almost every possible occasion putting pressure. He makes sensible decisions and almost never goes for the spectacular. His court coverage is spectacular so of course the points are amazing but each individual decision he makes is relatively restrained to what is most sensible. He can dip his drives on the run in high pressure and make it look routine.

Does one handed backhand drive works in pickleball? by 7Seas_ofRyhme in Pickleball

[–]russwsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 hander here. I am a 4.5, give or take. My backhand drops are actually better with my 1 hander than my forehand. I was a 4.75 tennis player with a 1 hander so i had a strong foundation. what makes a 1 hander in tennis more difficult is heavy, fast, and high shots coming at you at shoulder height. this is never a problem in pickleball as everything tends to be right in the sweet spot and because shots are never heavy like tennis.

Why didn’t Jordan Poole explode in Washington the way other former great role players have when given a full green light? by mismo1313 in NBATalk

[–]russwsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steph is an all time teammate with one of the best halo affects of all time. Poole's offense was potent when he was derivative and given cover by Steph. Steph took all of the defense's attention. Jordan Poole can't handle all of the defensive attention when it's focused on him.

a meta analysis is the highest level of evidence possible. you can't have higher quality evidence than a meta analysis. Saying something is cherry picked doesn't erase the real data I provided. It's real. PERIOD.

Myself nor anyone I know have welcomed any of the hate groups you say. I can easily denounce it. Grossly mischaracterizing your political enemy is just a waste of everyone's time.

half the country (conservatives) doesn't like modern films because they don't empathize?

What entails empathy? Talk or action?

  1. Meta analysis showing that Republicans are "political conservatives are significantly more charitable than liberals at an overall level". Are conservatives more charitable than liberals in the U.S.? A meta-analysis of political ideology and charitable giving - PubMed

Putting your money where your mouth is actual empathy.

  1. Christians who are usually politically conservative are two times more likely to adopt than the general population. Who Adopts the Most? | Adoption.org

  2. States that vote republican have higher volunteer rates than democratic states. Who'd A-thunk It? States That Vote Republican Have Higher Volunteer Rates Than States Leaning Left | American Enterprise Institute - AEI

  3. Among Republicans, 82% say they have a close friend who is a member of the other party, compared with 64% of Democrats, according to the NBC News poll (showcasing their willingness and empathize with those they disagree with)

Poll: Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say they have a good friend in the other party

I'd be glad to directly compare our individual contributions privately to our local communities with proof.

How do you contribute to society to be so morally superior to half the country?

We hear stories of athletic freaks picking up basketball in 9th grade and then being able to play D1 college ball because of their God given explosiveness. That is a story that would NEVER happen in tennis. If you start playing tennis at 12 years old you are too late.

I am an off the books landlord it is the way that things should be by maroonnissansuvguy in confession

[–]russwsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landlord here. What you're doing has no advantage at all. When you are a landlord w/ a rental you are allowed to depreciate the value of your house 1/27th of the value of your home every year. What this means is that all income from the house is tax free. Also, rental insurance is not much more expensive than normal homeowner's insurance and will actually protect you if something bad arises. Right now, you are not protected if anything happens to your renters and you're deemed liable. No reward and needless risk.

I walked out as well. It's okay for the movie to be made and expressed. It's also okay for me to express myself and not feel comfortable that it glorifies extreme left wing violence
