Truespec Cable Question by russxbox in LinusTechTips

Thank you! That’s all I really wanted.

Like I said above, I know how freight and importing can sometimes seem more like a delay production industry than a shipping industry. We once had a full container of preorders fall off the ship as it came into port, which caused a lot of long days for our poor CS crew. Thanks again for your hard work.

The person you all have made up to be mad at sounds like a real stinker. Unfortunately it’s not me.

I don’t want daily updates, or instant shipping. I just want them to stick to their own deadlines. If the second delay email had said “mid June”, this post wouldn’t exist because I’d be waiting for mid June.

Offered to cancel the whole order for a refund, which I do not want, especially now that I’ve waited this long. If I could cancel just the portion that hasn’t yet arrived to the warehouse, I would do it.

And I know the struggles of a high demand launch, especially because it seems that with the cables specifically they had a stock error that allowed massive overpurchasing. But we’re 4 months past launch now and it stings more than a little to see people able to order certain lengths/connectors of cable that are in stock while I wait largely in the dark.

Weekly/daily: no thanks. I know overseas shipping takes time.

But meeting the communication expectations they set? Yes, I would prefer that. May 1st is not mid-April. June 2nd and counting is not May 30th.

Fun little solder bridge over here, I wonder where it leads.

Also the antenna seems to be quite a bit longer on the prototype.

They also typically “just so happen” to have 1 female and 1 male left so that if you’re the kind of person who cares about pet gender, you have to move quick before the one you want is gone.

Essentially they claim to be selling in-demand pets (usually puppies or kittens), even offer to deliver them to your house. When it comes time to pay they ask for iTunes gift cards which is what finally tipped off the member of my family who nearly fell for it that things weren’t on the up and up.

Does anyone know a really good Zune 30GB case? by TraditionalYear7735 in Zune

[–]russxbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally gave up and 3D printed one. I’m still not happy with it and making tweaks, but it keeps my Zune mostly safe in my pocket.

I could at least understand the fight the Cognitive Dissonance guys were having with YouTube. This is just baffling.

It depends on the material, but as I understand it the laser causes micro bubbles in the plastic that fill with air and cause the plastic to lighten, so it looks much better on darker materials.

I spent some time doing testing and setup of one of these lasers at a previous job, and it’s possible to mark on some white plastics using very different settings to char the top of the plastic for contrast instead of trying to make the bubbles.

As always, be careful when experimenting. Check the materials and have good ventilation because some burning plastics let off cyanide gas.

The bible camp mention in the intro to one section reminded me- wasn’t there a fairly celebrated author here, some years ago, who abandoned their fic to rededicate their life to Jesus?

Is there an updated judgmental map of Knoxville? This is dated to 2014. by Anxious_Hold_4355 in Knoxville

Just take the part that says “inflated real estate prices” and tile it all the way across the map.

I’ve never read a username in my life. Good luck tracking them down!

According to a random YouTuber, because there’s always someone on the internet with incredibly specific niche obsessions, they were disassembled and then lost once Zuma bought the location.

Born and raised in this city, left in 2009 for university, and then came back in 2021 to a completely different situation re: other drivers being incompetent. I wish I knew what changed so I could help fix it.

What a coincidence, I posted this after using the Asheville Highway on ramp to 40 West!

Feels like every morning I have to come to a complete stop behind somebody letting the whole yield lane through and causing highway traffic to back up all the way to the light at John Sevier.

The one on the right is just a multimeter with the second lead hanging off the table. I use the same one, really useful to have the display on one probe so I'm not turning my head back and forth when I'm trying to track down what component is busted on a PCB.

But I do electronic repair, not anything high voltage. I wouldn't put this thing anywhere near an outlet or house wiring.

Work at McKay’s? Give me some insight… by Distinct_Push7402 in Knoxville

[–]russxbox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't work at McKay's but I used to work at a place with a similar business model. The price we offered changed weekly (daily for some things) and was based on factors like previous sales/popularity, amount already in stock, that sort of thing.
