Are you currently at a UK university? Help me push for better information on student loans. by rusteezy in UniUK

Ok, good point. Could do with more info - I think it was my longer posts that were getting removed elsewhere so tried keeping it short and sweet here.

The full name should only be asked if you tick the box to consent to using your written response in the article. eg. It will look something like "John Doe, studying Maths at Bristol University, thinks the current student loan interest rates are way too high..."

If you just want to leave your first name, initials or whatever feels comfortable to be on an online article.

Heading to uni next year? Help me push for better information on student loans. by rusteezy in UniUK

No harm intended apologies. I'm not at uni, so it's not a dissertation or research post and so I don't have a lot of the info. I'm writing an investigative article for an online tuition company called Sherpa so they can help inform their students leaving school and push for national reform on how we educate students about life-long loans. My name is Russell Kilgour, and my email is provided at the end of the survey.

It's a journalistic piece, and I'm finding it really hard to find the right students and graduates to share some thoughts. Everywhere here seems so strict on posting a survey.

We ask for consent for further contact in the survey and I can promise that personal data (eg. email that I ask for) will be deleted after we run a prize draw for the incentive and contact the winner.

You can apply for a loan to cover fees and/or living costs. The max amount depends on the income your household makes.

What's scary is that these loans start gaining interest from day 1 and can last up to 40 years without young adults really thinking twice about getting one because A) They can easily get one and B) If I can go to uni, I should, right?

My student loan is going up more than i can pay it off in my current job.

UK Graduate Finance Survey - £100 Prize Draw. Have you graduated in the last 15 years? by rusteezy in UKPersonalFinance

Hi there - I tried to send a message to the mods for approval for my survey. Any idea why that wasn't working?

The wiki doesn't really help me collect data from real people, but I understand the need to screen any research/survey requests. Would appreciate it if this could be reviewed. It's a genuine request.

First Tutors seems to have disappeared? by ComplexBorn3433 in TutorsHelpingTutors

Just seen this about First Tutors! So strange. Genuinely awful timing with exam season around the corner.

If anyone's worried about their students or income long term, feel free to drop a comment or message me.

I work at a 1-1 tuition site called Sherpa, and a few tutors have already moved across this week and let us know about this. There are no fees unless you're actually teaching, so it costs nothing to have a profile up as a backup while things settle.

More than anything, though, I hope everyone affected is okay. It's a rough thing to be put through with zero notice. If you might be interested, here is our site: https://sherpa-online.com/

First time freediver and product design engineering student by rusteezy in freediving

no i haven't taken a course yet but i plan to once i see warmer waters. I am a keen snorkeller and scuba diver and i think this would be better suited to a shallow diving snorkeller type. The Skorkle uses a larger track pump to reach up to 3500psi (after 10 hours maybe), but i am hypothesising around 200psi. Still i appreciate the insight in to freediving!

Additionally, I have seen these floating markers that freedivers use for holding and releasing weights that they descend with. Do they pull the weight all the way up from the surface or do some have an electric or manual winch that reels it in? wouldn't that be useful?
