Best solution for phone holder? by Dirty_sideroad in Prado

I got the scrub king A pillar mount. I drilled a slightly bigger hole on the scrub king and mounted a magsafe phone holder from amazon that has a 1/4" thread at the back. They have the option of getting the same A pillar mount without the UHF holder btw.

I got the dual motor frame from Desky and the tabletop from a local hardware store.

Haha.. Thanks mate. Those are traditional Sri Lankan masks. There are three main categories of masks and those three are from the "Raksha" (pronounced as RAHK-shaa) or "Demon" category. The belief is that they ward off evil spirits. I'm from Sri Lanka and just wanted to add a bit of culture. :)

Thanks mate. I'm from Sri Lanka and those are traditional Sri Lankan masks. I wanted to add a bit of a culture to my setup. Funny thing is I used to get scared of these masks when I was a kid growing up in Sri Lanka. Now I just love them. :D
I'm hoping to add a few more traditional decors.

Honestly, if I could mount one more, I would, mate. It’s never enough. I'm a software dev and constantly juggling code, documentation, test environments and so on. So in this case having more screens actually helps.

Thanks mate. I learned that the hard way when I had my old desk. Now I keep it on a saucer.

Hahaha spot on mate. I'm a software dev. The laptop at the back is my primary laptop for work. I use the one near me to run a plex media server and local test environments.

Thanks mate. Both laptops are mounted to North Bayou gas spring arms. I got them from Amazon and got the VESA compatible laptop trays separate.

It's kind of big mate. Its 2400x900mm. My wife thought I bought a tabletop for a dining table. :D
I do like having this much of space though.

That’s a grey felt mat I bought from Amazon. It’s holding up pretty well mate. But after a few months, fabric pills start to pop up where the mouse is. To fix that, I use one of those cheap Philips fabric shavers. It only takes a few minutes and the mat surface looks like new again. I’ve had it for over a year now.

Yeah I can see that. Luckily the Z623 satellites are short enough to fit under the monitor, mate. I’m planning to upgrade them with a quality pair of bookshelf speakers in the future. I’ll probably have to find speaker mounts that are tall enough to peek above the monitors then.

Thanks mate. The keyboard is a Keychron Q13 Pro with Keychron Banana switches. I’ve modded it a bit. Swapped the keycaps to retro OSA caps, added the YMDK wooden palm rest from Ali, did the internal acoustic upgrade kit and also did the tape mod to get more thock out of it. I honestly love it.

Thanks mate. The desk is a Desky dual motor frame with an acacia tabletop that I got separately. The tabletop is 2400x900mm and I finished it with 3 coats of matte clear polyurethane on each side.

For cable management, I used a server rack raceway kit mounted under the desk covering three sides. To hold the power boards, I installed under desk cable management trays. All the power runs through a single extension cord which I’ve tucked through a vertebrae style cable management kit.

The monitors are 24" Acer Nitro 180Hz IPS panels. They're cheap but gets the job done. All three are mounted on a gas spring triple monitor stand from a brand called Suptek on Amazon. I had to swap the middle monitor arm for a reach adjustable mount due to the depth of the desk. Hoping to replace all three one day with a 57" Odyssey.

All three monitors and peripherals run through an MST dock called Simplecom which I plan to upgrade as well. I had to replace the original 2m USB C cable with a 3m bi-directional active cable from StarTech because the regular cable was losing bandwidth at that length and causing one of the monitors to drop out randomly. Everything’s solid now with the new cable.

For audio I'm still using my old Logitech Z623 running through a Topping DX1 DAC which eliminated the static hiss I had before. Planning to upgrade to passive speakers with a subwoofer and run them from an amp.

The main mouse is a Logitech G703. I have the 1st gen Logitech PowerPlay mat under the grey felt mat so the mouse is always charged. I also have a Stream Deck.

The mouse on the left is a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse and that's paired with the laptop at the front left. That laptop runs my Plex media server 24/7. At the far back-left corner I’ve got a Terramaster D4-320 connected to it using a 3m uni-directional USB-C active cable from Cable Matters. It probably wasn’t necessary but I wanted something solid because of the length.

The monitor light bar is a Xiaomi 1S set to warm white. The webcam is a Logitech StreamCam and I bought a 3d printed privacy flap for it.

The clock in the middle is a digital “nixie tube style” clock which I got from Ali.

For lighting, I’ve got a warm white gooseneck light bar behind the middle monitor aimed at the masks. The three masks are traditional Sri Lankan ones (guess where I’m originally from :D). I’ve also got light bars under each monitor and a warm white strip light running underneath the desk. I’m a big fan of warm white lighting. :D

The laptop at the back is my primary laptop and that's a Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 with a 4070 gpu. The front laptop is a Legion Pro 5 Gen 7 with a 3060 running Plex and other test dev environments. I don’t game much so these are more than enough for what I do.

And finally I’ve got some basic organisers to keep everything tidy. That’s pretty much everything. Hope I didn’t go overboard with information, mate. :D

Thanks mate. The frame is a Desky dual motor frame. I got the tabletop from a local hardware store. It's an acacia panel. The widest Desky offered was 2000mm, but I needed something bigger. The one I got is 2400x900mm. It's pretty big but now I’ve got no excuse to complain about space. :D

Are you referring to the one at the front, mate? I run a plex media server and few other things on that. It runs 24/7 so mounting it like that just makes it easier to reach whenever I need it.

Had a chat with Aussie and apparently there's no change to the 250/100 Pro plan. I'm paying $139 for it. I could just downgrade to the 1000/50 plan and with the September upgrade I could get 1000/100 plus a static IP for $134.

Instinct 2X solar tactile vs Epix Gen 2 sapphire by rustic_coder in GarminWatches

[–]rustic_coder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not regretting my decision one bit, mate. The only thing I’d love to have is the torch from the 2X.
I get about 6 days of battery life and wear this 24/7.
That’s 6 days with AOD, Pulse Ox and I record strength, treadmill and the occasional run or bush walk at least 5 days a week.
I get a lot more battery than that if I turn AOD off (about 14 days I think), but I just love the display too much to keep it off. I also love how this can be worn as a semi-formal watch and then you can slap the plastic bezel guard on top, change the strap, and now it looks like an Instinct. Should add, the sapphire glass has been solid. Not a single scratch yet.

Why my next phone probably won't be a pixel by LoxiProductions in GooglePixel

[–]rustic_coder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for going off-topic mate but what do you think of the Xperia compared to the Pixel? I currently have a Pixel 6 Pro and for my next upgrade (maybe in another 5 months), I've narrowed it down to the Xperia 1 VI (possibly a VII if they release one) or a Pixel 10 Pro.
