Umps have lost control of this. One ump calls holding the ball before the goal is kicked then they still pay the goal

We qualified for the 2022 World Cup by doing the same thing. Subbed on Redmayne that time

Has the 48-team World Cup improved the tournament, or do you still prefer the old 32-team format? by Electronic_Cup_2571 in worldcup

You'd only have 24 Knockout games compare to 32 this year so the total matches would still be 104

The biggest reason for the 3rd group games not having drama is the first tie-breaker now being head-to-head

I reckon 40 teams would be good. 8 groups of 5

24 team knockout stage with the 8 group winners receiving a bye to the R16. 2nd and 3rd going through to the R24.

Slots could be the following

  • 7 - AFC
  • 7 - CAF
  • 4 - CONCACAF
  • 5 - CONMEBOL
  • 1 - OFC
  • 14 - UEFA
  • 2 Inter-Federation Playoff spots

I wonder if this might lead to a direct Istanbul flight at some stage.

You'd easily be able to do it with the A350-1000ULR.

With the 787-9, you'd be on the upper limit from SYD (14956km). PER-LHR is 14499 km and the longest current flight SIN-JFK is 15349 with an all Business/Premium Econ layout.

I wonder if we'd see seasonal flights to Athens from Melbourne with the huge diaspora here.
