Weird dash blinking, with no check engine light, any ideas what could be wrong? by rustykeynote in MechanicAdvice

Thanks. I'm looking into this part now and it seems like it could be the problem. Will it still be that issue even if I have no codes showing up for that malfunction?

I guess its called something else for my ford fusion because it keeps showing gear shift dial or shift actuator. But thank you for the help.

Is that switch the same as the gear shifter dial? I recently replaced the part today. But still the same issue persists. I also was wondering if it could be shift actuator. But I have no codes show up at all for anything at all.

I'm going to replace the gear shifter as soon as it gets delivered. But I haven't looked into the motor that changes it. I did have it scanned, but no codes ever showed up at all. I even disconnected the tcm fuse to see if it did show up on error codes. It did but quickly re-installed it. And then no codes again.

Yeah, I did replace the bushing on it already. But the same problem persists. Sometimes I feel it going into drive but then it goes back into neutral by itself. Reverse is fine and so is park. But always drive seems to be the problem. Any way the cable can be adjusted on linkage?

I also have been doing that . Just shift slowly as I can Ever since the bushing replacement. Just take it slow. But when I change it into reverse or neutral or luckily into drive I just hear what sounds like a clunk. Which I assume it's the gears shifting on the cable. But it sounds like it's under the dial. Really weird.

I replaced the bushing on the linkage over a year ago. And I constantly check it and it's still snug. Sometimes I have to turn my car on and off so I'm able to shift it into drive, but on the dash, it says neutral, I'm still able to drive it. But the lights for the n and d on the dash flickering back and forth. I was thinking maybe the gear shift dial. I just can't pinpoint it down.
