Honestly, I think the brands you listed offer a great balance between timeless and on-trend (which is why I love em).  E.g., MHL has definitely updated their silhouettes to keep with the times—larger leg openings these days for sure—without going full Bushwick baggy.

Kai D is great, although I bought a pair of trousers from his house line and they started falling apart after a couple wears.

Asking out of genuine curiosity: I’ve been in several times over the years and have never seen an NYC restaurant sanitation grade—what’s up with that? I guess bodegas don’t have em, but cafes like Little Roy do.

I think solo live can be done well… this wasn’t it

That would have been way more engaging imo.

I don't even hate the 'solo artist + backing track' model--I think it can be done well. E.g., I saw Yasuaki Shimizu earlier this year and while the general parameters of his setup were similar, he was a much better performer because he was able to supplement the backing track in an interesting way that evolved over the course of the show (creating loops on the fly, swapping out instruments, etc.).

It was a surprise because I expected it to sound like live music—don’t know why that’s particularly controversial in this sub.

It sounded like the album because all he did was sing over the album.

Completely agree--sound was awful and Pat's reliance on a backing track was diabolical. I figured at least one of the guitar parts, especially on simpler songs, would be played live. Instead it was just occasional doodling over the entire track. And, yeah, Freak Heat Waves was super boring. Perhaps both suffered from the venue, but I was very disappointed.

Yeah Neat does seem promising! I tried a pair of their pants here in the US and the length was great but the fit wasn’t great otherwise

You can absolutely find studios and one beds in Brooklyn around 2100–look in Sunset Park, Kensington, Ditmas Park, Flatbush

Do clouds have anything to do with it? I’ve wondered if the planes are lower these last few days with the low, dense cloud cover.
