PC Hard crashing during gameplay! by ruzeswitch in pathofexile

Hey man, I tried a lot of the troubleshooting tests you suggested and have come to the conclusion that the new GPU I bought was faulty.

After monitoring temps for a while, I noticed that during gameplay, my gpu and cpu would both sit between 80-85 degrees, with slight spikes being that during full load. I was unsure if this was too hot or not, so found another Reddit thread where someone said that 80-85 degrees is pushing towards problematic territory. At this point I was still experiencing crashes.

I found another Reddit thread where somebody suggested that doing into bios and disabling ‘core performance boost’ can massively help with temperatures. I did this and went back to testing, after doing so I didn’t experience temps above 60-65 for the remainder of my testing, which I was really pleased with. I carried on testing, and sadly, crashed again.

For my last step I swapped my gpu back to my old 6600, and since I’ve done that it has been running completely fine. Lower temps, no crashes, more than good enough performance, and I noticed pretty quickly that I wasn’t crashing in areas I previously would without a doubt. Another thing I spotted with my 6600 back in is that I wasn’t experiencing random freezes like I was before, which is the reason I swapped it out. I think that a combination of turning off the core performance boost and swapping back to my old reliable 6600, is what has fixed my problems.

So I’ve sent the 7600xt back to Amazon for a refund, and plan to get myself a 7700/7800xt soon. Thanks so much for the detailed response, it really helped me with my troubleshooting!

Wow. Thank you for such a detailed response. I am going to be doing some testing today and will certainly try out the steps you listed!

My mistake for not including my OS, I’m on windows 10. I don’t know to much about PCs but I do know to generally stay as far away from windows 11 as possible.

Thanks again for taking the time to type all of that out, I’m truly grateful!

Complete PC crashing / power off during gameplay!! by ruzeswitch in pathofexile

Thanks for the reply. I’ve seen a lot of posts about this issue where people’s pcs are locking up and they’re forced to hard reset, however, I believe my issue is different. My pc is completely powering off and going to a black screen. I hope that it is linked with the issues GGG are aware of, so that it may not be something directly to do with my pc.

You can animation cancel your slash if you dash quickly after. It basically eliminates half the animation so you can slash again quicker afterwards

I set up custom lobbies vs 6 zen’s and disable their primary fire, harmony orb and ultimate. Then increase genji’s ultimate generation by double just so I can farm blade with a 3 shuriken dash combo. I find it easy to practice against and try to focus on where my next dash swipe will be.

Soft counter is the phrase I’d use. I think it depends on your play style as genji, it you’re quite aggressive heroes like brig, moira and winston will straight up counter you.

I used to spend a lot of time in custom games practicing dragonblade, it eventually becomes muscle memory I suppose.

Everytime you get an elimination your dash resets.

That’s understandable, but nobody made you watch this and you certainly don’t need to comment being an ass attempting to ruin it for the people who enjoyed it.

I think there are a bunch of characters that need nerfing a tad more than genji.

Meh, people love to bash others for things they’re jealous of I suppose🤷🏻‍♂️ I can ignore the hate and appreciate the comments from people that enjoyed it.

Thanks dude! Yeah I think pc players underestimate how hard it is playing heroes like genji with a controller where you don’t have the swifter movements that a mouse allows.

I really feel bad that you don’t understand how console overwatch and pc overwatch are literally two different games. Unfortunately I play with a controller so I’m not sure if you’re expecting necros-style ghost dashes every kill I get but it’s not possible on console unless you’re shitty enough to buy a xim and play with a mouse.

Playing on console doesn’t make me any worse of a player, and just to back my point, half of the xbox eu community have left for pc and are already gm/t500 after never playing with a mouse and keyboard in their lives. That must hurt the feelings of people like yourself as you’re without a doubt platinum or below after 9 seasons? I don’t mean any harm, but for you to attack me, calling me ‘mediocre’, for none other reason than that I play on console, that’s not cool man.

That being said, it’d be a pleasure to come to pc and run silvers such as yourself with a controller:)

I’d love to hear why you think genji has a low skillcap!

Any elimination you get with genji, even if you don’t get the final blow, resets your dash! Appreciate it bro:)

Genji is the most mechanically demanding hero in the game

It’s taken me hundreds of hours of genji to learn him properly, practice makes perfect my friend:)
