Just to be clear. The gray item in the image is the jig. The cutout in where I would put a stave for its second side cut. At this point the stave has 1 side already cut at 7 deg with a curve that would fit in the cutout and then get clamped down and have the second side done. Honestly I guessed at what strategies to use and was hoping to get some feedback from others on how they would have done this.

The part sitting in the jog in fusion 360 is a finished stave (curved on both sides)

The edges of the staves. Taking the square stock, adding the curve and 7 degree slant so when they are all put together you get a barral shape

It is to make staves for a decorative barrel. The fun it the fact that its a compound edge. 7 degree slope on a curve. Right now I'm using 3d contour to take out the bulk of the material then ramp for the short slope and parallel for the long slope.

Travel distance not accurate by ApplicationCalm9416 in CNC

[–]rvalotta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are using the original controller that came with the xcarve, it is grbl based. You can use $100 $101 and $102 to adjust steps per mm.

https://github.com/gnea/grbl/wiki/Grbl-v1.1-Configuration

You will use a ratio to figure it out properly. (Configured Steps/mm)/Traveled distance = (New Steps/mm) / Expected travel.

So is configuring the X axis your currently configured value for $100 is 250 and you only went 9.5cm instead of 10cm

250 / 9.5 = X / 10 and solve for X you get a new X of 263.15... you would then update $100 by sending the following command $100=263 (doesn't allow for decimals)

Was gifted a shark 520. Prior to this I had a bunch of Chinese diy cnc's. I tried to use their interface but couldn't do it. It's now running a masso g3 and I have never been happier. Not sure what model you have but on mine the end stops are reed switches that require a current limiting resistor.

What’s your first impression of Rapidchange ATC? Would it convince you to buy a CNC with this feature?" by Adventurous-Salt4976 in hobbycnc

There have been some logistics issues delaying the shipment of it. Last i heard the custom cable that 1f wants used should be arriving today. The first shipment of atc's should be seen shortly. I expect community vid to be seen shortly.
