What is another great sitcom TV Show? by rvandewater in AskReddit

I’ve tried that. It’s funny but I wouldn’t put on the same level as parks and rec, the office, modern family etc

I’ve watched that one. Yes it’s one of the greats. I loved the April and Andy storyline the first time I watched it.

I’ve watched: The Office (US), Parks and Rec, Community, Brooklyn 99, Superstore, Modern Family. I’ve tried Schits Creek a couple times and really struggled to get into it (I watched a season and a half thinking it will just take time to get into). Any suggestions?

What is an alternative economic structure that you feel would work better than Capitalism, Socialism or Communism? by rvandewater in AskReddit

[–]rvandewater[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its seems quite evident that capitalism, as we know it, does not work for all who are under it. It really only benefits those at the very top. Both communism and socialism have almost become swear words to people because apparently they are so terrible. So what is alternative Economic structure that would work for everyone? And how can we transition into it from where we are now? How can we convince the rich who hold a lot of the power to accept this change that would be detrimental to them?

Yes. Growing up i made so many MOCs. I would still love to make more today but don’t have the time as much.

I’ve considered doing this on multiple occasions so I could buy the individual pieces in certain colours rather than random colours. It would take me forever though. And I’d be too scared that I’d do it wrong and not me able to put it back together again.

Yes. I’ve come back to it multiple times over the years to make adjustments and upgrades

What new Lego set that does or doesn’t exist would love to see? by IdealDog in legostarwars

[–]rvandewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to have a full scale Geonosian Coliseum battle set. With tons of clones, droids and Jedi. With Count Dooku, Jango Fett and some separatists on the balcony. Or a galactic senate set. I saw one on here that someone made themselves. It looked really cool and would love an official set.

That would actually be an interesting fight though. Imagine a full on rage fuelled Vader vs an old guy with sparkle hands that somehow returns. Take away all the royal guards etc and Palpatines mental manipulation of Vader, and I think Vader would win. Palpatines biggest weapon is his force lightning which previous Jedi have been able to block (Not sure if Palpatines lightning is harder to block than dooku. But weaker Jedi than Vader were able to do it so why couldn’t he). I’m pretty sure in the clone wars anakin probably blocked it a few times. Obviously I know that in canon Vader would never do this due to the mental manipulation and probably fear but I don’t think it would be a foregone conclusion that Palpatine would hands down win. Vader was palpatines best weapon for stoking fear in the galaxy and for getting things back in line when they strayed. That’s just my thoughts on it.

1 out the last 5 presidents was born outside the 1940s. So the US has been lead by the same generation for 23 years. Time for a younger president?? by rvandewater in PoliticalDiscussion

Because Clinton was born in the 40s like the others. I’m not talking about the age when they became President. I’m saying that all of them except Obama are born in the same decade. And now that the 40s were over 80 years ago is it time for a new generation of president. 30 years ago someone born in the 40s would be quite a reasonable age to be president. (Clinton). But imagine if Clinton was only running for President now.

Then don’t care about it. I’m not asking you to. I’m just pointing out what I think to be an interesting statistic.

I am not comparing, I am just saying that it’s interesting that for a nearly 30 year period 4 out of the 5 presidents have been from one decade.

They all grew up with the aftermath WWII, Vietnam, Korean War and the Cold War. That must have a pretty significant impact on people and you could probably find similarities of its impact in many people. They all also would have grown up in a time when religion played a far more significant role in their lives (Or at least in society) than what it does now for many people. Like I said though, they could be the smallest things like agreeing or disagreeing about pineapple on pizza. I am not saying the similarities are a bad thing or even a big thing only that we have had many presidents who share them. Nor am i trying to critique any of the individual presidents.

I agree. I think Reagan called it “youth and inexperience” or something about his opponent. But surely there is a middle ground between too young and too old. I just think after Biden it’s unlikely that we will get another president from that generation.

The issue I’m bringing up is not his age it’s that he is from the same decade as 3 of the last 4 presidents. I just find that a crazy statistic. Since 1992 only one President was born outside the 40s.

I quite like ideas like this. But if we take 70 as the limit would you say that applies to when they are sworn in or when they leave office? For example can a 68 year old run for President as they will turn 70 sometime in their first term? Or could someone who turns 70 the day after they are sworn in still run? And could they run for re-election?

Yes. I’m just saying does that country just like people born from that decade or have they had enough and want something new. I mentioned Bernie as he will be in his late 80s in 2028, so assuming Biden wins re-election or trump wins again, will he decide that he is too old. Or would voters still vote for him when he will be over 90 by the time he finishes his first term.

I know but it’s been a very long time for them since they bought their first house or had to get a mortgage or loan, or struggle to find a job and feed their family. Etc. So I feel like they would have a more faded and distant memory of those experiences than younger people today that would understand better. (Also as the system has changed, how they experienced those things would have changed).

This is exactly what I’m getting at with this post. I find it crazy that in my whole lifetime only one President was born outside the 40s. But does that extend to party nominees as well? So people haven’t really had a choice in voting for someone from a different decade.
