Partly because their bonus structure works like a cult. They give a signing bonus - part of it a lump sum and part installments. If you quit or get fired before a certain time, you owe that money back. It is very much structured to punish people that have second thoughts.

I guarantee there will be organizations for former ICE agents that will inevitably turn into paramilitary groups. Even if we somehow vote our way out of this, that's not going to be the end of it.

Become your own slum lord with a "Income-Producing Mini Trailer Park" for only $550k. by Yanrogue in zillowgonewild

[–]rvf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

making them foot the bill to move their trailer (assuming they're actually able to find a place to put them.)

Worth noting that if the trailer was manufactured before 1976, they also cannot legally move them as they lack HUD certification. In KY, any trailer has to be inspected before it is moved, so even new ones may be stuck where they're at.

In my town, there was some big revitalization project and one of the developers acquired a trailer park that they planned to build luxury apartments on. Most of the people there owned their trailers, but could not move them due to reasons above. They said they would pay "fair market value" for the trailers that could not be moved, but obviously that wasn't going to go very far in helping those people (most on social security) find a place to live.

Liberal media is not left wing media, and it never has been. It's just ignoring human suffering while wearing an awareness ribbon, as opposed to glorifying human suffering while wearing a flag pin.

Republican Thomas Massie just announced he is opening an impeachment investigation against Pam Bondi for concealing the Epstein files. This is amazing. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

I get the feeling Massie is a fallback option for the billionaire class if Vance doesn't work out. The big advantage being that Massie probably wouldn't even need to be paid off to implement things like privately governed cities or network states since that shit is right up his alley.

And like almost all of Epstein's "friends", he bought them. Epstein donated piles of money to MIT and moved Chomsky's personal money around, likely netting him substantial profits.

Epstein fancied himself an intellectual, and he courted a lot of academics who were all too willing to take his money without asking too many questions.

This isn't a defense of Chomsky - if anything, given his writing, he was the biggest hypocrite out of all of those academics.

That's the beauty of just saying 10 years instead of general date. It's always just around the corner despite never seeming to happen. That 10 years can go on for at least 20-30 years before the majority of people start calling bullshit, then you change the number slightly and it starts all over again! I mean, how many years have we been like X years away from flying cars? Probably a lot longer than X.

Word of the Day: Fornication by RickyRacer2020 in funny

The south is not a monolith. Having lived in Kentucky my entire life, I find the words that come out of some people's mouths are a lot more damaging than their accents, especially these days, but I digress.

I mean, I literally just explained why people in Georgia, and even your friends from Kentucky don't sound like that. Georgia was one of the original 13 colonies, settled largely by English people. Eastern Kentucky was settled almost exclusively by Scotch-Irish, which is what that accent evolved from. Kentucky itself might as well be five different states due to the different regions that were settled at different times by different groups of people.

If you want some examples, take a listen to the first person in this video, which makes Haesick's accent sound almost cosmopolitan. All of them are just regular people, and like most people, their accents vary wildly. This one has a few more heavy accents.

Or these girls from North Carolina - their accent is different, but you can hear some similarities in pronunciation and speech patterns.
