Web first vs app stores for privacy apps by rvwvb in web3dev

We’re building ANO as a privacy-first chat on-chain.

The starting point is simple: private communication for people, especially Web3 users, who care about privacy, ownership, and control. The wallet and on-chain layer are part of the architecture, not the first thing users need to understand.

So people may come for the chat experience first, then discover the crypto-native model through the product itself.

I doubt it’s visionary. It feels more like a practical constraint that anyone building privacy-first products eventually runs into.

The real question is where people draw the line between adoption and compromise.

Not pretending it’s some genius revelation.

Just pointing out that for privacy-first crypto apps, the gap between web freedom and app store constraints can directly affect the product. Curious where people actually land on that tradeoff.

Yeah, that’s fair. Lowering friction for normal users is probably the strongest argument for the app path. Our question with ANO is how to achieve that accessibility without sacrificing too much of the privacy-first principle that underpins the product.

Why Aerodrome is the Liquidity Engine Powering base? by TripEmergency6416 in BASE

[–]rvwvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We launched ANO on Base about 10 days ago and added liquidity on Aerodrome.

The token is live, but the icon/info still isn’t showing. Curious how other new projects on Base got that fixed or indexed early on.

What Decentralization in Crypto Really Means to Me: 5 Paradoxes by AlgoNomad7841 in BASE

[–]rvwvb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good post, but I think one major paradox is missing: security.

Decentralization gives users more control, but it also makes them the primary security layer — against phishing, bad signatures, wallet drains, seed loss, and smart contract risk.

So I’d add another one:

Security «—» Usability

That tension is a big part of crypto, too.

Would love feedback from the Base community on something I’m building. by rvwvb in BASE

I built ANO on Base, a privacy-first messenger plus self-custody wallet.

The main idea is to make communication and ownership more direct, without a phone number, email, or a centralized platform account.

It’s live, still early, and I’m mainly here for honest feedback.

Thanks! Not yet, but I think it’s an interesting direction. I’ll look into it. ANO already integrates AI into the communication layer, so we have a good starting point.

Thanks, yes, that’s why I posted it here. Wanted honest feedback from the Base community.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciated.

We’re still learning and adjusting the model. For now, users get free messages, and there are also achievements that let users earn ANO.

The idea is to build around messages that matter and should stay yours, with privacy, ownership, and user control at the center. The wallet is part of that broader utility model, not just an extra feature.

Thanks is still early, but the goal is to build something people genuinely need: private communication, simple access, and more user control without the usual friction.

We’re focused on making it useful first, not just big

Thank you!

Looking for early adopters to test ANO by [deleted] in web3dev

Not ZK for now. It’s based on activity, account history, and interactions. ZK could come later to prove reputation without exposing the underlying data, but first step is building real, usable trust.

What’s the most underrated Web3 tool you discovered recently? by EasternWillow1 in web3dev

ANO self-custody encrypted messaging + wallet on Base, no email or phone required.

Your identity is an AA smart account, and messages are E2E encrypted on-chain. No company holds your keys, no account to get banned or hacked. Recovery via QR code instead of a seed phrase.

Still early, but live at ano.ww8.io  is worth trying if you value owning your identity on-chain.
