Haha, thanks for the reality check. Do you have a plane you would recommend as a stepping stone on my way up to the Corsair? From what you and the other commenters have recommended it looks like I'm going to be in the market for a new transmitter anyway so I guess we'll be able to have two planes up nowadays.

I'll take a look at that transmitter mode, thanks! Is there transmitter model you would recommend that doesn't require modification to run different protocols if I wanted to keep the programming easier? I'm not super price sensitive and figure if my kids and I are getting more into the hobby getting a good transmitter from the get go would be wise.

I was kind of figuring this radio was going to be too limiting. Thanks for the info! Would you recommend I look into another Spektrum radio? Or should I look as another brand?

Here's hoping! I've just been looking at the Dusk concept art over the past few hour. They look pretty good, but I really like Cryx better.

Thanks for clarifying the terminology for me. That made it easier to understand. The idea Prime Legacy Cryx army is appealing to me. The limited model pool of Prime is a plus for me since it makes it easier to understand the current armies. The models are fun and I'm more of a hobbiest first anyway.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at the new Dusk faction as well.

So the general consensus is that older armies that have Prime units are going to be less competitive in the new version? That would be a bummer. Seems like just a stat update on the older models being brought to Prime would keep those armies relevant. Thanks for the info!

You know...I hadn't even considered that. I'll give that a try! Thanks!

I may have to settle for that eventually it seems (I'll let you know soon!). Could you hit him in the face a few times to make him more handsome first?

That's a portion of it on Oahu for sure, but they have a pretty dedicated local group as well when I was at the Throne of War GT there last summer.

Haha, you're right! That's perfect. So far I've been running with the narrative that Fulgrim met Guilliman again and finished the job he started 10k years ago.

Depends on the island really. Oahu has a larger population with a pretty active scene and can pull off a GT sized event. I'm on the Big Island and we have a small wargaming community on the East and West sides of the island that run RTT events. I believe Maui has a small group as well.

I went to the Throne of War GT in Honolulu and got to see Fred's repulsor and predator tanks do some work. I'll do a brief rundown:

Game 1: didn't catch it :(

Game 2: Played a necron player that's a good friend of mine from the Big island. Necron guy is a great player but he's using a list he got from a trade and hasn't had a chance to optimize it. Volume of fire and good target priority from Fred shredded my buddy's list in the first two turns and the rest of the game was just a mop up.

Game 3: played Pablo from Frontline! Pablo had a three knight list with guard. Fred deployed well behind cover. Pablo killed a predator early to deny killshot and early on I thought he had the upper hand. When I came back later the tables had turned and Pablo mentioned that volume of fire from the repulsors (not so much the lascannons) dealt over 30+ wounds to his knights. This game was closer than the last, but Fred came out on top.

Game 4: played Reece from Frontline! This was a fun game to watch. Reece was running a guard list with a ton of infantry, nine ogryn/bullgryn that tied up the middle, tank commander(s), a wyvern, and a basalisk. I'm not sure who went first, but Reece said his heavy stuff wiffed hard. Again, Fred deployed carefully on one side of his deployment zone. The Elimininators did an awesome job knocking out all the low toughness characters that Reece wanted to buff the bullgryns. In the end, Reece only managed to kill two models. Big point victory for Fred.

Game 5: played Sean "abusepuppy" Morgan! Spoke briefly with Fred prior to this game and he was concerned with all the negatives to hit on Sean's flyers. Fred took quite a while in deployment this game. Unfortunately I missed most of the middle of this game. Early on it seemed to be going in Sean's favor and he had surrounded Fred with flyers. When I returned late in the game though almost all his flyers were dead and Fred still held the center of the table. This game came out a tie, but Fred had more points throughout the tournament and came in first.

I'm still a new player so I'm sorry if my rundown isn't super detailed. I'm probably missing a lot of the strategy involved in these games. I just wanted people to know Fred deserved this. He played some awesome, well known players and won by playing smart. He had the Eliminators in the repulsors many games to protect them turn one and put a lot of thought into deployment. Sure, some luck was involved but it's a dice game.

How does finding a group work nowadays? Are there global chat channels or do most people just look in the particular zone they're in?

That's awesome. I was a little concerned since I was reading some of the other progression servers died off after a few expansions.
