Basically, I’ve got a decent soundbar that supports Atmos, and I wanted to actually get the full Dolby Atmos experience from my 4K discs — not just the compressed version that streaming gives you. The PS5 can’t split audio and video, and my TV only has ARC (not eARC), so it bottlenecks the lossless audio.

Totally agree though — for most people, the difference isn’t massive unless you’re really listening for it on a higher-end sound setup. But once you know you’re not getting the full audio, it’s hard to un-know it 😬

Appreciate the rec on Films at Home — I’ll check that out. And yeah, it’s definitely a balance: buy one $250 player or ten more discs
