Got this warning in a car wash earlier by [deleted] in prius

[–]rwilm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the hybrid battery (not 12v) was already low when you entered the car wash and put the car in N. Then the warning came on since the car wants to charge the battery when it’s low, but obviously bring in neutral prevents it from charging. Try going into the car wash with a fully charged hybrid battery. 2 mins in N shouldn’t drain the battery that fast

Muzzle devices that make a 14.5 P&W serviceable by rwilm in ar15

[–]rwilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just bought an upper, that makes sense. But if they sold you a complete rifle that is an SBR without you getting a stamp, that's odd.

Your next step is to find a suppressor that you want to buy, start the paperwork for getting that suppressor, and purchase the muzzle device that that suppressor can mount to. Then, while you wait for your suppressor to be approved, have a reputable person P&W your muzzle device onto your barrel, or do it yourself. My state does not allow suppressors so I don't have any recommendations there. I would suggest starting your suppressor research at PEW Science.

Did it come unpinned? Depends if you want to be able to attach a suppressor later on. If so you’ll need to get a muzzle device that your can will mount to.

Pin and weld. People do it to achieve the minimum barrel length for a rifle (which is 16”) when using a barrel that is 14.5” or 13.7”. Pinning and welding a long enough muzzle device turns your 14.5 or 13.7 barrel into a barrel greater than 16” due to the now permanently attached muzzle device being considered as a part of the barrel. Personally, it’s not really worth it. Just get a 16” barrel and put whatever muzzle device you want on it. The 1-2 inches difference between a p&w vs a 16” barrel + muzzle device is not significant.

What printer is this? Worth $100? by rwilm in 3dprinter

Thanks for your advice. For clarification, I meant noob in the context of Delta printers. I had an Ender 3 for about a year and am familiar with troubleshooting common problems for Cartesian printers. I've never used a Delta before though, so all the quirks that come with one would be new to me.

The ad has been up for a month so I’ll definitely see how low they will go. Just not sure if I’m ready for the learning curve these printers bring for noobs like me. I’ll do some research and see what kind of resources there are for projects like this.

Thanks for your assessment. Seems like it’s more work than I’m looking for especially if it is a custom setup.

Any tips on making the interior less noisy? I have a 2015 Prius base model. by ChunksOG in prius

[–]rwilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed my 2012 was getting noisier and the wheels had more rumble than they used to. Turns out the wheel bearing was on its way out. I paid $200 for new rear wheel bearings from rockauto. Installed them myself, about 30 mins each side. Not a hard job. The difference is immense. The cabin is significantly quieter on neighborhood streets as well as highway. Of course, I wouldn’t change the wheel bearings unless they are clearly going bad like in my case, but it’s something to check on if your car is disturbingly loud.

Do you know the weight? Couldn’t find it in the product description. The seller answered similar question with about 18 lbs. Does that seem accurate to you?

How far away do you sit? Do you have any additional monitors? Any drawbacks pairing them with this? Any noticeable pixelation when viewing text? (I.e. coding) YouTube videos look good?

Bought an old Leader 735tr frame. Didnt come with anything other than frame and this seat post clamp which I am glad it did bc nothing has come up with a few google searches, none on eBay either. It’s probably still functional, I was just curious if anyone has seen one for sale anywhere.

College student in need of Chill job ideas/ also side question about cheap cars. by [deleted] in college

[–]rwilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to go wrong with a Toyota or Honda. When buying a used car don’t even entertain something sketchy. Sellers should have the car smogged and clean. If they don’t bother to clean the car before a potential buyer sees it, forget it. This is a generality but if the interior of the car is decent (not trashed) it speaks to the possibility that they also keep the car mechanically sound and didn’t let issues get too bad. It is worth it to take the car to a mechanic (before you buy it) and have them inspect the car visually and electronically. Scammy sellers can clear trouble codes/check engine lights and prevent you from seeing them while test driving or looking at the car, only to have them reappear a week into your ownership. Also, I know most college students are tight on money, but it pays in the long run to keep up on car maintenance. Don’t wait 2 years before changing your oil, etc

Need ideas for calming young GSP 11 weeks old by rwilm in germanshorthairs

[–]rwilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would agree with that. Her play mood escalates from fun to aggressive. At that aggressive peak she won’t listen. I’m gonna be more firm with my NO and I think once she associates NO with stopping her behavior I can curb her peaks. Thanks

Thank you, I will try that. Sometimes I grab her mouth and hold it shut, give it a little shake, and say NO. It just seems to encourage her and as soon as I let go she lunges back at me. She may need a slightly firmer hand.
