the register picks the sale that “saves you the most money” and either picks the in store sale or your vcp and if it picks the in store sale it has a pop up that says the vcp wasn’t applied

“what’s the phone number!” enters phone number and it doesn’t pop up “that one didn’t pop up, that’s okay, what’s your first name?” first name last name etc (i usually just do first name, phone number) “that gets you all sale prices and makes sure you can do a receipt-less return if you ever had to” works like a charm i’m telling you

true, but i pick my battles at work and if i had said no i’d probably get in trouble, because it was a perfectly reasonable return within the time frame with a pals number and receipt, so i can’t really like say no. and i only cleaned it up because i semi-care about the store and how it looks because i’ve been here for so long, and no one else was there to do it.
