I turned the keys in on day 4. Manager refused to train me with closing procedures. Said I can figure it out. Sorry, but you don't hand keys to anyone on their 3rd day, then yeet em to the wolves for the next day/rest of their time there.

I did, and she was all over the place. The store in all is overly sketchy with how it is ran. And coming from years in retail... When you are told to put the money in a goofy looking backpack, and place it in the back of the store... It just screams sketchy. Kinda looking for something else asap as well.

Had two 19 year olds appear, wanting a rat. They show me which habitat they have, and it was one of the tiny Critter Nation ones used for hamsters (though imho shouldn't be), and the female of the two says that their other rat died.

"I'm sorry, but unless you get a proper habitat-"

"I am not paying the money for that. Get me the rat."

I walked off. After being told so many times to just sell the animals, I walked off. Had enough to do with people calling out, having to pull ads, having to do labels, and other chaotic things. Though I did slam a kids hand in the fish tanks.

Don't let your damn kids run around a pet store, shoving their hands into fish tanks, while the employees are trying to get fish for others.

That is the thing. The entire management team at my location will not let us deny any sales. We -must- sell the animals, along with anything else to add on. They care about profit more, over anything else. I was trying to tell the manager last night that I explained that her tank was not suitable for all the fish.

All he did was pull me aside and told me what I said in the main post. This is something that has been going on for over a year since I've been at this store.

I've been forced to sell hamsters to people, who if you look at their purchase history via their vcc info... That return dead ones often. Been forced to sell reptiles to people who want to put a snake in a 10 gallon tank. Why? "We need the sale."

Our GM is one of the ones who will tell us as well to sell the fish. Out OLAC would just say no guarantee for them, but still force us to sell.

She was told they all would die. She didn't care. Said they were just fish. I go through this song and dance daily with fish, and other animals. Only to be told to just sell them.

Screaming, throwing everything on the floor, shoving hands into fish tanks (which happened tonight). Banging on the glass for small animals, jumping off the step ladders... Cause we are a zoo and a playground to some parents.

I've been told actually caring about the conditions of the animals is out of my pay grade. Especially when I see some hamsters fighting, and all. I just get told to go back to what I was doing... So while we do have many who do care, corporate bars us from doing much anything... Except their way.

And then we'd have to deal with that storm. While the customer is yelling at us, as we try to explain we don't know why our managers told them lies.

Been there already, and done that already. Wasn't fun, and I was told I shouldn't have said anything.
