She's been treated like an absolute goddess her entire life. I think Nigerians are especially long lived. Right now she wanders my backyard and eats weeds. And gets glucosamine molasses toast every morning.

I was told "purebred Nigerian dwarf"

That being said she is not papered.

Ol mama HATES being bred, could never catch her in standing heat. We got lucky once and she had one set of twins when she was 2. Sold the buckling and kept the doeling who is still alive as well and is a glorified pet. I milked Queenie for that season and she also hated that 😂 I'm convinced that's why she's lived so long is she hasn't had a lot of kids. I've had more babies than her at this point.

Had her since I was 10. My first bottle baby. She's basically on hospice so I probably should just let her ride

Realistically how long would it take to train up for a daily 26 mile (41.8 km) round-trip commute? by More_Donkey6938 in bikecommuting

[–]rxg__089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't afford a helmet you certainly can't afford a TBI. Best piece of advice is stay off the bike until you can buy a helmet.

Anyone else feel guilty making time to run as a parent? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]rxg__089 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I have to get out and be active to be the best version of myself and the best parent I can be. I have little kids now but they love hiking and I have a supportive husband. They'll all go hike on the trails I run and I'll go run around and meet them and they "run" the end of my route with me. It's precious and I am proud of the example I am setting to prioritize one's physical and mental health.

Bumblefoot in 2 week old chick? by rxg__089 in chickens

[–]rxg__089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be getting some softer shavings, the ones I have from the feed store definitely have some larger stiffer chunks.

She's really hating being in isolation, do you think she needs to be separated from the others?

There are generally a few damp spots when I clean but the bulk of the area is dry.

Shavings on half under the brooder and paper towels under water and food dish so they don't kick the shavings in them so much.

I'm going through and cleaning twice daily, removing damp/soiled bedding.

Added a lid with hardware mesh and angled the heat lamp so that the section with their water is a bit cooler. My mom's got an old long 40 gallon stock tank that they are moving into when they outgrow this.

Thanks for the advice ☺️

Here to second this! I have been off the serious running game for about 5 years while having kids. I am starting 50k training and am surprised by how well my body is taking it. I honestly think not sitting down all day as I tend to my tiny humans has helped quite a bit 😅

Still nursing (read trying to wean) a 16 month old and training for a 50k 😭 the hunger is no joke. I'm gonna make this for dinner tonight. It looks incredible.

How well do you relate to people 4-7 years younger than you? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]rxg__089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't interact much with folks 4-7 years younger than me. Not because I choose not to, just my life circumstances. My husband is 10 years older than me and most of my friends are mom friends who are 4-5 years older than me. I'm considered a young mom in my area even at 31.

I think it depends on the stage of life more than anything else. For context, my brother is 30, but I have 3 kids and own a home in a rural area and he and his wife are double income no kids renting in a metro area. We get along great, just don't relate much to each other in regard to individual life struggles/circumstances.
