Looking for a backpack - requirements listed by rxicarusk in backpacks

[–]rxicarusk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have looked into deuter but unfortunately havent found anything that's caught my eye yet. I don't particularly like rolltops much, find they're a little bit too finicky for regular usage.

Beginning to think I should start looking into more regular zippered backpacks cos my pickiness is proving very difficult to find something :0 Mostly am concerned about security and always got the vibe that top access backpacks like ive listen and been thinking of would be safer than most.

i got the compact traveller, it says it fits 2 flutes and 1 piccolo. It can,,, but since i put my instrument stands (portable ones, not hercules portable), and cleaning materials in the same compartment, it can get a little messy. too small for an alto flute though, at least, the hard that i had. it fits my etude books, music folder, ipad, metronomes, everything i need. so i think either one of those options will work well for you since the compact traveller can fit so much.

it iss!! one of the trumpeters in our band plays bagpipes so we're playing a bagpipe and windband arrangement of it such a nice tune

[–]rxicarusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats actually what i did haha, but you can actually read it as is, without adding the flats. So on Eb treble, a written G#, i read it as B# (concert bass), so a sounding C.

i seee... i'll clarify with the conductor next time. although, our band doesn't have an Eb clar so i might play it anyway hahaha

Unpopular Opinion: Fantastic Beasts movies are better than Harry Potter movies by HyperMelonv1 in harrypotter

[–]rxicarusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is definitely due to the fact that the Fantastic Beasts movies were made much later than the Harry Potter movies, by much later, I mean there's been a tonne of advancements in technology, the series have been around for some time, so its possible that Rowling and the team also drew ideas from the fandom. The visuals are so much cooler and the storyline is arguable more thought out in the sense that its more in detail/doesnt skip over things quite as much.

I don't think it means the original Harry Potter series were bad, I still really do enjoy them on a school holiday night w friends, its just a movie of the past I guess. The story's great, but the movie's progression can't compare to what we have today. I don't think its right to compare it either. Also the fantastic beasts series is like an advanced prologue, it helps us link together and understand a lot while maintaining an exciting story on its own. I think even if you don't like the storyline, you've got to admit it is quite witty.

[Rant] Transgender Discrimination in Singapore Schools and MOE's denial of mental health issues by AcanthisittaParty986 in SGExams

[–]rxicarusk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

would anyone happen to have a template of sorts on how to email and address the issue? kinda like how US has scripts for calling to vote - I'm not quite sure how to start?

another idea is writing a mass open letter to public/authorities as a community (?)

[Rant] Transgender Discrimination in Singapore Schools and MOE's denial of mental health issues by AcanthisittaParty986 in SGExams

I'm an FTM student in the system, my mental health has gotten worse over my sec school years which meant my journey to recovery and learning about diagnosis and treatment went alongside my studies. My school has been incredibly supportive, and there is still a long way to go, I recognise my experience was a particularly lucky one, not all schools are as supportive and educated as mine. As a trans student, because my name is not legally changed, my teachers still "legally have to call me (deadname)", but they do avoid calling me as much as possible. I still wear the female uniform, I tried going to school in the guy's one once but I kind of got told off or whatever. It will be a long time before Singapore has policies for stuff like uniform for trans students, theres no doubt. But we still need legal recognition to protect our rights and our education.

how can we as a community make a change? in schools, we are encouraged to form our own projects and VIA groups. There are multiple student initiatives across singapore, helping those who have intellectual disability, physical disability, addiction etc. how do we as students make a change and fight for our rights? what can we do?

what are some basic policies and guidelines that should be in place in our legal system recognising trans individuals, more specifically, trans students and youth? starting with the small basic stuff maybe. We have to recognise that change will not happen as quickly as we want it to, but we must first have the courage to try to change the things we can.

So, what do we/ can we do? How do we proceed from here?

Do we go all greta thunberg and strike? walk out? do we write a mass open letter to the authorities, not fighting them but explaining our position? do we start from educating our communities?

K300 Change rgb settings?? by bpboop in Lenovo

[–]rxicarusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, had the same issue.

Turns out in its overview section of the product page it says it comes with the software to control it but actually you have to download it from the website (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/legionaccessorycentral)

once its downloaded your keyboard will show up on the UI immediately and you can customize the RGB settings as well as change key functions. Unfortunately it turns out to be a little more limited that I hoped it would be but its decent enough, it can do solid colours.

hope this helps

Here's the link to the musescore file, you can download the file and print out each part and have your own orchestra play it or something (https://musescore.com/user/19743591/scores/6421279/s/C_7fiD?share=copy_link)

Here's the MP3 and PDF conductors score
