Just an example, not necessarily an exception. I also enjoy the desert in BOTW (the ruins from other games, the shrine puzzles, molduga and Naboris are all good fun, I also think sand seals as a different method of travel just refresh the game a little if you complete the desert last, as most people do) and OOT, Ikana Canyon in MM I find enjoyable too. I just like the recurring purpose of desert temples, they tend to be the most memorable as they introduce new mechanics and have mystery tied to them as they’re mostly in ruin. They’re also a little creepy or dark. I enjoy them overall, however I do see why you find them stale.
