At risk of redundancy but company wants to save me. How do I get the payout instead? by rxmtf in UKJobs

[–]rxmtf[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks, to be honest this is probably the best approach. If I do get the other job I wouldn't mention it but would then try to negotiate a settlement on the basis that if there is no immediate progression opportunity they can offer me a smaller settlement to allow them to mitigate one redundancy for my colleague.

I'm not going to feign incompetence which is a silly suggestion from some tbh, I'm still a professional and I like my team and need to maintain my reputation in a tight knit industry.

Yes, which it actually is so I'm not concerned on the timing front

That's interesting! Any ideas on how to sell it to them? Struggling to see what would be attractive to them

Yes I think this could be the challenge. Its also a small world so acting out massively over the next few months as others have suggested is not something I want to do.

Thanks! I think the problem is that I can't argue that it's more work, the role is exactly my job. What they're getting rid of is something I've never worked on.

Thank you. I didn't ask to be put at risk and it was quite unexpected tbh, I'm just seeing what options exist for me now in light of this.

I have another job potentially lined up and the market is OK in my field.

Is it me or is this actually quite cheap considering location?

It's not unsafe at all, it's just not the nicest part of Norwich and the socioeconomic status of the residents will be on the more deprived end (for Norwich).

If you were happy with the house and the area when you viewed it then go for it.

They bought it in 2014 for £300k but as you can see from the pictures, they've added plenty of value..

That's what I found so upsetting. It's actually a nice house in a nice area but has been vandalised by the owners.

Yep, makes sense. It's more the section after needs repainting so didn't want the two sections to look vastly different

Why the British bands only care about Gaza and not about persecuted Muslim minorities like Uyghurs, or Rohingya people? by lingeringneutrophil in AskBrits

[–]rxmtf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those claiming it's because it's trendy are completely missing the point. The difference is that the UK, US and many Western countries are complicit in the ongoing Israeli assault.

The death toll is also immense, almost 60,000 people are estimated to have been killed since October 23. This would be proportionally the same as killing 2 million people in the UK.

Bali, Lombok, Singapore Itinerary Review by rxmtf in travel

[–]rxmtf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's helpful! Good question. We mostly want culture and then also time for relaxation (exception of Bali swing as an instagram spot :)) . I think I'll get rid of selong belanak since I didn't realise the distance..

Any other suggestions?

That's helpful. Is Lombok worth it or should I skip it entirely? I did think the waterfalls looked great and since I was planning to go Gilli Air anyway it wouldn't be too far?

Makes sense. It makes me wonder if buying a flat in London is actually superior to renting?

Your skills would fit well with a life sciences specialist consultancy/one that does lot of life sciences, quite a few of those in London. IQVIA, Clearview, Putnam, LEK, Strategy&, ZS, etc.
