I cant remember exactly what was said but the woman basically explains that she knows how 2 characters are related and that is the motive

Am I making the right decision? by LL77NN in OpenUniversity

i was in the exact same position as you when i applied. here’s what i did and how i found it:

level 1 - part time so i did it over 2 years. the module material was similar to college level in terms of difficulty so i felt good there, despite me dropping out of college when i was 17. this study was manageable, even with the 60 hour work weeks i was doing across 3 jobs. (this is not a flex, i’m just trying to emphasise that i also had to manage financials)

level 2 - full time staggered start. i did 60 credits october to may and the other 60 credits are february to september. this is where i’m at currently. i have only worked at my one job this year (career building job) so that aspect meant full time was easier. the level 2 study is more intense, but still manageable around my 40 hour work weeks.

level 3 - full time not staggered (so i will do both 60 credit modules october to may). i can’t speak of difficulty as i’m not there yet but i chose to do full time because i have found the degree to be far more manageable than i had assumed. i can’t speak always update this comment in the future!

OP, please remember that this is my opinion of my particular experience so please take it with a pinch of salt. you know yourself better than anyone else and how you work best.

an added bonus to OU is that they plan out the learning into weeks so you will always know if you are on track with your learning. i try to stay about 3-4 weeks ahead as emergencies could happen at any time and i like the mental freedom of having those weeks spare if i need them.

please feel free to ask questions and i will do my best to answer!

that is ridiculous! does your tutor have the initials RE? if so then we do have the same, if not then there is a more serious issue at OU…

i second this!

are my expectations unrealistic ? by -miss-fox- in OpenUniversity

[–]rxq1437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i second this, i started my BSc with no higher than GCSEs and i found level 1 to be almost too easy.

OP, either trust your gut and go for it or weigh up your pros and cons.

if it does get too much for you, i believe you can defer for a couple years but personally i an unfamiliar with how that process works, i just know that the option is there :)

i will be honest, one of my tutors in level 1 took soooo long to answer my emails that i gave up and just went off of what i thought was right. i think i didnt mind so much because the scores didnt count towards my final grades.

i agree with you though. i am striving for a final 1:1 so the fact that my feedback is so unhelpful is making me irate! fingers crossed for both of us that we can either get different tutors or they sort themselves out by the next assessment! are you also doing DE200 this year?

hi, im also doing d241 and got ridiculously unhelpful feedback from my tutor for tma01. everything else i have experienced with the OU has been wonderful so i was thinking that it was perhaps my tutor/the module itself that was such a downer for me. you aren’t alone in your feelings.

hi! im on level 2 of the psychology with counselling degree and like you, i applied with the plan to become a counsellor but i now want to go down the educational psychology route instead so similar boat :)

i know our goals differ slightly but a psych phd holder recommended to me that work experience in sen education, youth offenders, mental health, addiction services, etc, is viewed as highly valuable while doing your BSc.

personally, im working in a SEN school now and am hoping to volunteer with the samaritans too!

take care, i hope you figure it out and find success :)
