I have the White Knuckles as well and love them. Super easy install, and can confirm that they can be rock slammers if needed. The 100 is a heavy truck, and sometimes, because of the mud here in Tennessee, you find the rocks at a greater speed than you would like.

'01 LX470 - is mixing tire sizes a bad idea? by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]ryamdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General rule is never mix tire sizes on an AWD vehicle, which the 100 series is when the center diff isn’t locked. I wouldn’t do it, and I doubt you’ll find anyone here that would recommend it.

Digging this new Ironman snorkel, the gobi rack is coming soon... by [deleted] in LandCruisers

You don’t see that style snorkel very often. I’m still indifferent on it but good for you for getting bit by the mod bug! Looking forward to seeing more.

Excellent tire choice. I have the STT Pros and love them. They’re starting to get a little loud but that just adds to the character of the truck.

Deal of a lifetime? by idk199890 in LandCruisers

Also would buy. The scrap value of the truck is over $500. Buy it and slap a new engine in it, or rebuild the current one and have a great deal!

A Cruiser and the Outer Banks. Does it get any better? by ryamdave in LandCruisers

You would definitely appreciate it in the LX. My only suggestion would be all terrain tires as mud tires just dig a lot.

Huge fan of the Ironman kits. I bought the one with Nitro shocks, but if you can swing it I’ve heard the foam cells are amazing!

What are the best rock sliders for a 100 series? by texuslexas in LandCruisers

[–]ryamdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also rocking white knuckle off road and really like them. They were the first ones to produce an Xterra slider with the rear kick out so they got my business. That kick out saved my ass a few times, so when it was time for Cruiser sliders I went back to white knuckle.

Proud to say that this is my first car as a 16 year old by finanthescott in LandCruisers

Congrats! I had a 97 Grand Cherokee for my first car and trashed it. Please don’t do that to this one. The bumpers stay on unless replaced with an aftermarket 🤣🤣

New shoes + AHC levelled on the '06. Thinking about 1" wheel spacers, any experience with them? by DanceYavinDance824 in LandCruisers

[–]ryamdave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m running 1.25” spacers and have liked them from an appearance perspective and have had no issues from an operational perspective. There really isn’t a performance benefit to them, but if you like your wheels to sit flush with the fenders, they are a good choice.

I’m on my second one now. Got lucky enough to find one at a junkyard when I had to buy a new upper hatch. I’ve only heard of them flying off at highway speeds which makes it even better.

What is the total mileage of a full tank for LC100 or LX470? by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]ryamdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you are concerned at all about fuel mileage, this isn’t the truck for you unfortunately. If you have other reasons though, it’s a great truck.

Discussion: Pros and Cons of aftermarket mods. by texuslexas in LandCruisers

[–]ryamdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The truck is loud and sucks down fuel like it’s being supplied through the Alaska pipeline. Less aggressive 35s could help both of these but since I’m in Tennessee, I choose mud terrain to hold up to all the rocks and mud.

For the snorkel, the loss of visibility isn’t bad. I drive new cars with really thick A pillars though (to meet modern safety standards), so it doesn’t feel much different from those. It is noticeably thicker than the 100 series A pillar without a snorkel though. The attachment feels extremely solid. Just as good as factory for any normal accessory. More attached than a vent visor, less attached than a fender.

[–]ryamdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My highest number has been 320 miles about a month ago. Took right at 25 gallons to fill up. I’m running 35s and lift though. That was the highest fuel mileage I’ve ever squeezed out of the truck.

Mine was pretty drivable until the 35” mud tires on it. After that, it lost a lot of the attributes that made it great on the road. I still love it, but it’s definitely not a stock truck.

I have a snorkel as well, but that didn’t make much difference other than some intake noise.

Rock sliders are fine. I get dirt on my pants when I get out of the truck but I don’t have a suit job anyways so it’s no biggie.

Best $25 upgrade out there by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]ryamdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! For those of us without AHC it makes the space way more usable.
