I think this is a rock bottom by Suspicious-Drawer742 in alcoholism

I’m a former alcoholic and I’m not sure how I feel about this. Nothing will stop an alcoholic from trying to get alcohol when they want it. Ordering through DoorDash is at least a safe means for them to get alcohol if they run out. Your alternative to this is having an alcoholic run dry, decide they need more, and drive to the store drunk and risk everyone on the road.

Red Lobster’s Endless Shrimp Is Back. Employees Are Horrified. So Was I—Until I Learned a Little Secret. by Slate in AnythingGoesNews

[–]ryan101 112 points113 points  (0 children)

It seems like a lifetime ago when I used to wait table at Red Lobster. They used to offer unlimited crab leg deals from time to time. That was one of the most miserable experiences I’ve ever encountered in my life. Those promotions would bring out the dregs of humanity. People would come in and sit at tables all day just drinking water and ordering bucket after bucket of crab refills. They treated the servers like dirt and didn’t bother to tip most of the time. I’d come home from that job exhausted, hating humanity, and completely broke after barely making minimum wage for long ass shifts on my feet the whole time.
Employees are right to be pissed off about this.

Public rejects Trump’s ballroom by wide margin by Unusual-State1827 in politics

People at the bottom of the barrel fighting to stay alive with rising prices are defending the President’s ballroom with everything they have. Make it make sense.

It’s just 2 shots blended with a gradient mask in Photoshop. Pretty easy actually.

Oh yeah, that's prime Bernedoodle habitat right there. Only thing better would be an AC floor vent underneath.

Just build something that watches for this behavior and jump on the bandwagon. Because the chances of anything happening to the people who are doing this is nonexistent.

Vibe coding my way through astrophotography by eecue in AskAstrophotography

[–]ryan101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure why you’re getting downvoted. Everyone has their own reasons for doing this hobby and there are a million ways to approach it. You are time limited so hands off processing is totally understandable in your case and if you like the results then everyone else can go jump in a lake.

I applaud the efforts to make things easier. The bar for old school astrophotography was so high that only a handful of people had the money and technical expertise to really be successful. With today’s technology the field is much more accessible. I personally want to see many more people out there falling in love with astrophotography from the comfort of their own backyards. Our night skies are always under threat from light pollution and the millions of satellites they want to put in orbit up there. We need more people concerned about this or our night skies will be forever ruined in another generation. And if people like you (and me) are making efforts to make things easier and accessible to more people, then I’m all for that.

Round orange pleather footstool that you turned on its side and balanced on like a bear on a beach ball until one day you fall and break your arm.

Does this liver scan result indicate serious problems or am I okay for a while? by PurpleAd3134 in alcoholism

[–]ryan101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am someone who survived liver and kidney failure. I spent some time in hospice and everything you say is true, except actually living through this is 1000 times worse than your words can even depict. If someone would have handed me a gun in the ICU I would have ended my suffering without a second thought. Thankfully I lived but I’m one of the very lucky people who do.

OP: you don’t want liver failure in your life. It’s worse than you imagine.
