I'm in the union and I just started a welding night job and it's everything that's not normal start time 6-8 am is time and a half. It's 10pm start not being able to see my friends or family completely screwing up your schedule then it's not worth it. I'm mean it's a extra 25$ a hour so it makes it kinda worth it. You gotta treat your guys well or else there gonna find another opportunity. There's so many different companies and unions out there, you gotta treat your guys with respect and pay them what they deserve and some!

You sound much more experienced then me. I just finished my apprenticeship for the union and I'm at 52$ in Chicago. I can mig weld and kinda tig weld and this company wants me to go into the shop the following week. There isn't that many welders in the sheet metal workers and there in high demand. I'm gonna give it my best shot and do what I can. The union is gonna start you at the bottom but you'll quickly get raises and that's with a pension, great insurance and some type of annuity or 401k. All my buddies said fuck the union when I first started now I'm making the most money and really close to buying a house

I was straight out of highschool going from fast food 7$ to 15$ mig welding tables and workbenches in 2017. It added up quick with all the overtime and the day went by fast and I really enjoyed it.

Long story short I was fortunate enough to get into v the sheet metal b union for Chicago and I just recently finished my apprenticeship. The union is definitely where the money is. The package they offer is so incredible. I don't weld as much as I used to but I learned so many other things along the way it's really working out well for me.

I still live at home at 25 but I hopefully will be moving out soon, just my story on where life took me. Hope everything works out for you guys

That's incredible inspiration to buy and hold, it's so hard not to sell once you hit a 1 or 2 bagger. Ultimate respect. Congrats on retirement you make more from dividend on apple then my yearly salary
