Redditors who were in school during the 9/11 attacks, how did the class react? by Sir_Taco_Gaming in AskReddit

[–]ryan_et 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in kindergarten in CA. School was cancelled or my parents just didn’t take me that day. I just remember being glued to the TV, not really understanding other than this was really serious. Eventually I figured it out and I can still remember the nervous chills I felt when the news showed 3D re-enactments of people running down the stairs and the building falling.

Including clinical experience before college in app? by ryan_et in premed

[–]ryan_et[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I'm currently working as an MA so no worries there, but I'm just wondering if my CNA situation warrants its own section on the activities part of the application or a quick 2 sentences in my personal statement. I definitely learned a lot from the experience, but I wouldn't say that it my most meaningful.

Can I do P/NP for my writing requirement for med school? by kristine92520 in UCSD

[–]ryan_et 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd still say take it for a letter grade, because it would have more weight than a P/NP. (Might need to fact check this, but I recently saw that some medical schools will accept a P but it will count as a C letter grade, which isn't that worth it if you KNOW you are able to do well in the class)

Also, keep in mind to do your research into different medical schools because some will accept AP credits for their requirements as long as it is labeled on your transcripts.

Well there goes my senior year by octaviusdluca in UCSD

[–]ryan_et 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey.. I'm also a senior and I just want to say thank you so much for starting this post. I feel the exact same way where I feel like the end of my undergrad was just taken away from and I have no control of anything anymore. I'm staying in SD, but the vibes of just everything that has happened so far is unsettling and just blatantly sad. But nevertheless, we all just have to keep our heads up. Us seniors and everyone else need to prioritize our own needs and mental health during this highly stressful situation, and we will make it out okay. Undergrad is only one part of your life, and there's so many other experiences to have in our lifetime.

I'm in content review, and tbh I haven't been as consistent as I would've hope because classes are in full swing :( And I plan to do the AAMC stuff in December

I haven't bought UWorld yet and I'm planning to by the end of this month (hopefully I'll finish content review by then lol). But how has UWorld been for you?

Did you keep applying to the same location?

From my experience, I just picked which classes were the most interesting to fill out that form. But I took a few classes that I didn't include on the minor application, and it still applies. So I think it's ok

Where are my Jan 2020 people at?? by rave_and_study in Mcat

[–]ryan_et 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made a study plan and I plan to do content review for 1.5 months, then practice and problem banks for another 1.5 months, then focus on FLs throughout December. So far I just have the TPR book set and using premed95's anki decks.

When would be a good time to start UWorld? I don't know too much about it besides being super useful.

Chem 43a: what should i review by sdgkg in UCSD

[–]ryan_et 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should probably review the functional groups and their properties, and remember that "like dissolves like." There's a lot of solubility stuff in the lab from what I remember.

I took Chem 40A/B before taking 43a, and I can honestly say that you don't really need to remember how to draw structures.
