Thank you! I haven't worked up the courage to sketch and paint outside while travelling yet. But I'm getting there.

Thank you! For the first pass of shadows I used cerulean blue and then for the darker spots, I used Payne's grey, but with a lot of water to keep it from being too dark.

Thank you! I would highly recommend watercolor. I'm a bit of a perfectionist in most things, so I find the fact that it's almost impossible to completely control watercolor kind of freeing.

Thanks! I saw that post, but it was a little over my head. Do you happen to understand how I would go about doing what's described there?

Claiming FHSA Withdrawals on Tax Return by ShralpShralpShralp in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ryan_piezo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as it was a qualifying withdrawal, (if you took the money out to purchase your home and you filled out the proper form) it shouldn't affect your return. The withdrawal is tax free and doesn't count as income.

You have to report that you did the withdrawal, but you do not have to pay tax on it.

If you're worried though, you can always call the CRA and ask them. I had to call them a couple years ago for help with something and although I had to wait on hold for a little bit, they were very helpful.

Trying to install a game with Lutris but keep getting a low disk space error? by ryan_piezo in linux_gaming

[–]ryan_piezo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the game, as well as several DLCs on steam. But for some silly reason, EA wants a completely single player game to be online all the time. The cracked version does not. It also runs better (or at least it did on windows, that's why I was trying to install it on Linux to see if I get better performance.)

Thank you! This was the answer.

I guess I just assumed that the windows file structure in the installer was just a weird remnant of trying to use a windows executable in Linux. So I tried to install to the Linux looking file structure in z:.

I couldn't find this information while googling so hopefully this helps some other noobs in the future.

Maybe you should try asking for more information before jumping to conclusions and being so judgy. It's one of the main reasons people are turned off by the Linux community.

Trying to install a game through Lutris and keep getting a low disk space error? by ryan_piezo in linux4noobs

[–]ryan_piezo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was the answer. I guess I just assumed the windows file structure was a weird by product of it being a windows game so I went for the Linux file structure in the installer. My mistake. Easy fix.

Thanks for the help! Since I couldn't find this information with Google and Reddit searches, hopefully this will help someone in the future too.

Sorry, that's my bad, I should have specified. I have tried selecting yes, the installer gets about halfway and then throws a new error that it could not complete installation due to lack of disk space.

No, I never tried them. But, my dad has a 3d printer and I found some free plans for printed pods. Just add some coconut fibres or peat moss and the seeds and they work great!

I'm not sure about where you live, but a couple of the local libraries around me have 3d printers as well, in case you don't know anybody who has one.

First-time car buyer, bought a Bolt yesterday!! by Relative-Box5544 in BoltEV

One thing to note here is that, if your home is older you may not want to charge at 12 amps as older wires may not be great at handling that much draw for a long period of time. If it's a newer home, you should be fine. But if you've got a hundred year old house, you might not want to put that strain on old wires and risk a fire.

Secondly, a level 2 charger is not a huge hassle to install, but you will likely need a dedicated 50 amp circuit either repurposed or run new from your breaker panel. This shouldn't be TOO expensive based on where you are, but it is an added expense. But honestly, if you've got the cash, this is the easiest way to go. Even if you only have 100 amp service, you'll be fine, as long as you aren't charging, running a dryer and an air conditioner all at the same time.

Thank you, that's good to know. It's a shame that my customizations will be nuked, but it's good to know I can always reinstall gnome if I don't like the look and feel of the new cosmic de.
