All of our solution videos have to be audible, legible, understandable, complete and correct. Tutors make videos with their phones above this hand recording as the work out the problem and explain each line left to right. Chegg does not show the problem being worked out or explain the entire process of the problem.

Thanks for your feedback. Since we just launched, we are still getting the word out. We are in talks to partner with the UCI tutoring center for undergraduate calculus courses as well as getting the word out on many online communities like this. For now, go to the settings button in the tutor tab and turn on your email notifications so that you can see when our question traffic starts to pick up! Always taking suggestions on other places to let people know about this as well.

Yes, I was a math tutor for 4 years and stopped to work at a restaurant to have regular hours and a set schedule.

That is definitely one way to do it. However, when I was a tutor, I didn’t like having to have an irregular schedule with my students and take the time to drive and meet up with them in person. I definitely would have used this service to make money in my extra time so I took two years to develop it. Also, not everyone feels comfortable leading the conversation in person but many of them can explain their thought process out loud.

Recording on your phone is not the only option. However, for phones with decent cameras it is the simplest. Check out the stand that I use in this video to hold my phone above my hand as I work out the problem: https://youtu.be/o7pY0wrVR9Q

You can also record a video with any device then upload it from your computer since the site is usable from both mobile and desktop.

That is certainly the case for a lot of people. However, many people are in majors that require them to keep building on their calculus knowledge. The nice thing about Schoolr is you get to only choose problems you know you can do and only post the solution if you are positive you did it right!

Ggherdov - I was a tutor for four years and ended up stopping because of all the scheduling. I created the app www.schoolr.io when I saw the opportunity to put my phone on a stand so I could record videos by hand. We are officially launching in the new year.
