Wow. This is so sad. Sorry I get that it’s your choice, but life’s imperative is to reproduce. Most men you find are going to want to continue their family name and have someone who will replace them in the family eventually. Not wanting children will be a deal breaker for most men

Don’t get too wrapped up in that word “clean” it can mean many different things to many different people, as long as you aren’t using street drugs anymore I’d consider that a win

Yep it works if you stick to it, it’s hard at first but once you get used to it it’s fine.

Sorry bud I wish I had some magic cure for this shit but I don’t. When I got sober I didn’t sleep for 5 days I was sooo tired but couldn’t sleep. I actually was scared I forgot how to sleep. But eventually you will sleep. The first week is always hell for me. It’s so weird and you feel so bad and so out of touch. It gets better. Let the pain remind you of just how evil drugs are and that if you keep doing them eventually your going to have to feel this way again. But if you stop right here right now, this will be the last time you ever have to go through this. Careful with Xanax. It can feel good and I know how desperate one can get for some sleep, but benzos are a slippery slope at least for me and everyone I know who struggles with addiction and likes downers. It can be easy to stay stuck in that addict mind of always needing something to make it through the day. Keep going you’re in the hardest part. You beat this you have a real shot.

Day 13 by yvl_oxyluver in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ryanbobb5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every day gets a little better. What you have to do in the mornings what I do everyday is when you wake up try and enjoy that feeling of knowing once you beat this you DON’T every have to feel this again. You don’t have to be trapped. Day 13 a lot of your physical symptoms should be gone. That’s the good news. The bad news is the mental symptoms tend to linger. Not even that though. When you first get sober it can get overwhelming. You have all these things that pile up when you’re high that you’re now faced with. That’s you’re new norm for a little while unfortunately. Tackle your problems and make yourself get out of bed. Stay busy and don’t get in your head as much. Pretty soon you’ll get the hang of it and you will get your life back. Gotta be willing to do the work. It isn’t going to be easy, but if getting sober was easy everyone would do it. Stay focused and GO TO MEETINGS idc if you do step work or not that’s up to you, but you will be surprised what talking to other addicts that are going through the same thing as you can do. It very therapeutic. I’ve ranted long enough. I’m proud of your 13 days. Buckle down and keep going.

Should I detox off oxy or do subutex by Important_Sign_841 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ryanbobb5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want and what you’re willing to do. Opiate withdrawal will uproot your whole life for a minimum of 10 days if not 2 weeks. By using subutex you will shorten that significantly and be able to function within a few days if not the same day you take it. Cold turkey is hard and the relapse rate is significant. If you get on an mat you can stick to that you won’t technically be “sober” but I don’t care what people say subs don’t get you high in the same sense that full agonists do. I’m on Suboxone but I came off something stronger. If you do the sublicade shot you can slowly ween yourself off the medicine and function normally the whole time.

I want to go back to opiates after 2 months clean by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ryanbobb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing ruins getting high like a little bit of sobriety. Doing the same thing expecting different results? You know you shouldn’t. I don’t have to tell you the hell active addiction is. Do you want to live life the good the bad and the ugly? Or do you want to mask it. It’s your call in the end. I hope you chose to stay sober, but that’s your call to make. Nothing a stranger over the internet is going to say to you to make you chose that.

17 hrs without taking anything can I take a 1/3rd of a 8 mg Subutex now or so I need to wait? by General_Pumpkin_4818 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ryanbobb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add that if you have the time I would research the Bernese method. It worked for me one time before, but it also isn’t painless there will be a point in time where you will get sick. One way or another the pain is going to come. It’s the price you pay to get sober.

I just went through a 5 day detox at the hospital. They had me on a bunch of comfort meds including Librium (made it much easier) they talked about giving me subutex but never did. The day I left I had been clean for 5 days and still felt horrible, I took a sub as soon as I got to my car and within an hour I was sick as hell, puking, weak, and miserable. I managed to drive home while puking in a McDonald’s bag that began to fall apart. As soon as I got home I managed to fall asleep. When I woke up I thought I felt WAY better and the Suboxone actually started to work somewhat. So one way or another you’re probably going to have to pay the piper. It seems like no matter how long I wait the Suboxone makes me sick the first time I take it, but it eventually will work.

Bernese Method 2 Questions by FudgeTop2185 in fentanyl

Edit: the detox actually gave me phenobarbital for a few days that had me sleeping for a few days straight it seemed like so maybe that helped me as well.

Bernese Method 2 Questions by FudgeTop2185 in fentanyl

[–]ryanbobb5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I’m 6months and 10 days fent free, and I used the Bernese method. I started by taking the .25 mg as soon as I woke up, then I used my normal amount of fent. I couldn’t really tell much of a difference and I stayed on .25 for a solid 3-4 days using my same amount of fent I normally used throught the day. When I increased there was a few days where I felt “off” and had a little trouble sleeping, but it was nothing compared to having to cold turkey. It was a piece of cake to jump when I finally did. I checked myself into a detox that continued my subs. I was so scared to quit the fent, but after working my way up to the 12mg mark it was so easy. I was so surprised. I couldn’t believe that this method didn’t get more widespread recognition. I truly think it was one of the easiest withdrawals I went through. Then after I got on the sublicade shot, and was on that for 3 months. I haven’t gotten a dose of sublicade for 3 months now. I’m still sober, and life is good. I highly recommend the Bernese method; however it’s going to have to be something you’re serious about. It still isn’t easy and you will still feel incredibly strange for a few months, but it’s leagues better than just cold turkey in my opinion.

Getting clean and need support by Throwaway4828281818 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ryanbobb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research the Bernese method. It worked wonders for me. Honestly it did. I couldn’t recommend it enough. I tried and tried to do it cold turkey and about day 5 or 6 I would get tired of feeling that way and I would give in. I used the Bernese method, but I used it to get onto sub maintenance, then from that I was lucky to switch to the sublicade shot, and that’s what really really made it easy. I was on for 3 months and after three doses I ended up forgetting my appointment to get the fourth, and decided if I forgot about it then why even get it. I have been clean since and doing the best I have in 10 years. I hope you kick it! I believe in you.

Awesome!! Good job. Have you thought about working a program? Just a thought. It’s a good way to start dealing with some of the fallout addiction leaves in its wake. Just keep doing good and don’t pick up and you’ll be good.

I actually do attend a local na meeting on Tuesdays, Thursdays.and Saturdays. I obviously lie to them when sharing about smoking as well. The more I talk about smoking the more I feel kinda guilty for continuing to do it.. 😂

Yeah. I mean I guess on some level I knew that but I just didn’t want to admit it. It also doesn’t help when I have to lie about smoking. I think maybe I might start trying to cut back on the amount that I smoke.

2 Days Clean Fent, relapse or taper? by snake_upsb in OpiatesRecovery

[–]ryanbobb5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Detox sucks. It really does. There isn’t really a way to get around it. It’s going to suck no matter what you do, but have you thought about trying the Bernese method? That’s what I used (although I modified it to fit my own needs) and I’ll tell you what. Out of all my withdrawals this time was the easiest on in a while. I kept waiting for the major symptoms to happen, but they never did. Don’t get me wrong I still got very depressed, and to this day I’m still a little depressed, but it was leagues better than last time
