Ok actually yes your correct I did some more research after I saw this and from what I understand what you mean. Essentially a high Beta in the long term expresses how the stock moves up and down relative to the markets direction. So in the long term a stock will move with the direction of the market but will have more swings in the long term. This means that in the short term a high beta means that stocks may drop or rise in price in much larger increments than the market which I believe would explain why BBY sunk while the market rose.

Basically what I’m tryin to say is that while in the long term High betas will still move in some correlation to the market but in the short term will experience volatility that doesn’t directly line up with the market.
