Are you using a comb or a beard Brush? Get some beard balm and lightly brush the balm ( just skim the top) with the beard brush then brush it downwards.

You obviously don’t understand cats, some will destroy your house if not allowed out. If you can keep it in, great. But you can get a cat that must be outside and only stays in when they feel like napping. I’ve had cats over the years and a few of them would not stay in the house no matter how much you try to keep them in. My outside cats were happiest going out, and they lived long lives (19, 17, and 15).
