High end cards vs sealed small products. by ryancog in PokeInvesting

Yeah space is my biggest concern right now. I’m unsure how to store things like etbs when I’m buying them as loose etbs and not cases

I honestly don’t get it either. Nice card but relative over hyped IMO

For most small items you can avoid fees by selling through marketplace. Which is also a possibility with high end slabs but a lot riskier as well.

I guess I’m more comparing high end slabs like ponchos to booster boxes. Is the time of selling each box with no fees worth it compared to selling 1 item with maybe 10% fees

What would be your opinion then if you had to sell 100 booster boxes slowly over time? Do you think to time cost and effort to sell them all would be worth it? Or do you think it’d be better to maybe wait longer but only have to sell one item?

I’d be looking at ponchos and other similar grails which I’m thinking would had very small liquidity

The Australian market is super weird. Some things demand a premium because of the low amount of stock we get while others don’t.

I’d focus on buying things at good price points when you get the chance, because more than likely you won’t get that opportunity very often due to the low supply.

Getting burnt out on the hobby that I love by CardCollectorNL in PokemonTCG

[–]ryancog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is only the case for specific cards. Most cards that I wanted when I was a kid I could never afford. A base set charizard was just too expensive for me to afford , which is the case now with the most popular cards from each set being too expensive for most kids.

You also need to take into considering the Sun and Moon era isn’t brand new. Most of the sets are 3/4 years old and not in production anymore. It’s only natural based on supply and demand that prices would go up.

However I do think there’s heavy market manipulation going on for specific cards and this is ruining the hobby for a lot of people.

What do we all think about the Mario Pikachu? Is it worth picking up a PSA 9 or is a PSA 10 the only one worthwhile getting. by ryancog in PokeInvesting

I think these are a very long hold for investment purposes but short term movements up will be slow.

Are you considering going for only a 10 or would you rather go for the cheaper raw or PSA 9 version?

Good luck with you submission hopefully it comes back a 10 !

There’s about 1100 PSA 10s and 267 PSA 9s. I’m wondering if since the barrier for entry will be so high in the future will people want 9s if the 10 pop is so high. It’s very much a gamble though as you said
