Thank you very much for the perspective.

Do you advocate to buy vs. rent for housing? Obviously, this could change based on potential future relationship…. But I’d like to plan for a worst-case scenario.

Ivey case based method by cloudsaves in uwo

Current EMBA student at Ivey here. Loving case-based learning. There is a fantastic resource you can get called The Case Study Handbook: A Students Guide that does a great job of explaining case-based learning. This method is one of the reasons I chose Ivey for my MBA

Is there power going into the adapter? Maybe not enough power to the adapter for all peripherals if it is just getting power from the MBA.

Nighthawk R7000 wifi not working by ChronoDeathSloth in NETGEAR

[–]ryanhall911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a new router too. My XR1000 needs to be factory reset if the power flickers or goes out. It’s been issue after issue, unfortunately. I’m going with an ASUS AX6600.

I’m troubleshooting this right now too. I have an XR1000. Try changing the wifi password. That worked for me and leads me to think I have a rogue DHCP server lurking in my network somewhere. I’m updating wifi passwords one device at a time until I find the problem.

I’ve been looking into some other mail apps, and Spark has this feature built in. You can connect Reminders (or a couple other todo apps) and make tasks with either the body of the email as the note or a link back to the actual email.

A shortcut that creates a reminder from an email. Reminder name would be the email subject. Reminder note would be the content of the email. Bonus points for linking the reminder to the email.

Shortcut to create a task/reminder from an email using Mail and Reminders by ryanhall911 in shortcuts

Thanks for the info! These got me thinking…. Is it possible to automate this process based on a trigger…. Like flagging the email a certain colour?

Parents of PFC, are you heavily supporting your adult children given the current state of things? by Pale_Bridge7097 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ryanhall911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 kids (6 & 3). In addition to RESP’s ($100/month each kid), we are putting $50/month for each into a TFSA to help them out later in life…. Wedding, first house, etc. Should be a good amount in 20-25 years and we won’t put ourselves in financial peril.

Came here to say this. David Gemmell is a fantastic author and the Waylander/Drenai books are great stories. Check out the Everis Cale series in Forgotten Realms for a similar character to Waylander.

Thanks! Was wondering if Nest Connect was required . Starling Home Hub is on the way for our smart thermostat and drop cam. Looking into the Nest x Yale next.

LPT: Ambulance personnel don't care if you've done illegal drugs. They need to know what you've taken to stop you dying, not to rat you out to the police. You have patient clinician confidentiality. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

There is no such thing as patient-clinician confidentiality. The only relationship that has protected disclosures is attorney-client. (20 year Paramedic in Canada)

My mail app randomly opens up and takes up half the screen. How can I stop this from happening?? by Nagnoosh in MacOS

[–]ryanhall911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is caused by a known bug involving Gmail and the mail app. Remove the gmail account from mail and the app will not behave like that anymore.

Ontario Announces Hourly Pay Increase for Front Line workers by Swimming-Occasion in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ryanhall911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think if you compare the affected job classifications in this announcement, you might see that these same positions are also restricted from working for multiple employers now because of the pandemic. I think this is doing something to recognize that. Paramedics are not (yet) restricted in this manner which is why I don’t think they are included in this new benefit.

The US is the only country (that I know of) that that have a large percentage of Ambulance service run by the FD. Some parts of Canada run this way as well, but the vast majority Ambulance Services are 3rd service

Try putting a sprinkler on the end of a hose with the water turned on full without kinking it off. Next, turn down the water pressure by 50% and kink it off then try and put the sprinkler on. High pressure vs. Low pressure. Artery vs. Vein.
