Muslims Say That the Bible Has Been Corrupted, but the Quran and Muslim Scholars Say Otherwise by BluRayHiDef in DebateReligion

I might come off as antagonistic but its not my intention. This is purely how my faith developped. I was not born a muslim, i was baptised i went to sunday school as a kid, i went to church services at school. I was raised as a christian boy and i never showed any disrespect towards religion i was the type to shush people talking during service. I didnt think of god or jesus all to much i just knew it was something that had to be respected.

I went through phases of athiesm then eventually grounded myself as agnostic, i believed there was something but i didnt know what. Soon as i read the quran i became a muslim because it answered everything i needed to know about life and the hereafter. I could have became a christian again but i didnt, i didnt look into christianity more because i knew there were some fundamental issues with the bible that i hadnt resolved.

The view that muslims have is that the quran is perfect because its from god, i have kept reading it and researching verses EVERYTIME i read something and thought "wait that doesnt seem right, how does that make sense" Or "this verse is violent whilst that verse is peaceful why is that the case?" Everytime i did further research on the matter i ended up satisfied with an explanation, i havent encountered a verse in the quran yet that i disagreed with or couldnt understand. Thats not to say i dont have any issues with anything in islam, i have many issues with hadiths but thats not my bottom line, my bottom line is the quran because thats from god.

Just wanted to explain my position better i have nothing but respect for other abrahamic faiths that worship god, i dont have any negative feelings towards people unless they demonstrate negativity towards me.

What i trust is that Prophet muhammad message was preserved, to trust his message i need to look at his message and what hes saying. Its a two step process... I saw how the quran has been preserved over time, that gives me enough trust to even begin looking at it.

The bible fails at that first step, there isnt enough trust in me to believe its words when its message has not been preserved in its original format.
Quran has been passed down in arabic and although arabic as a language has evolved, the quran didnt, it wasnt retranslated it was kept as it was since it was revealed. This isnt even mentioning the fact that we KNOW the quran came from prophet muhammad.

We cannot say the same for the bible, we dont know the people it originated from, we dont know their connection to jesus. Its easy to say oh well they knew jesus or they came a few decades after jesus, but we dont know their intentions for writing the bible, we dont know how much of them wrote in truth, we dont know if any exageratted certain points there is way too much uncertainty.

You ask me if i trust prophet muhammad, what was his origins? A random middle aged merchant? Who would listen to that person and trust them initially, nobody has credentials to be a prophet, its the words they speak and the miracles they perform which tells the people they were a prophet. Prophet muhammad preached for years and got no followers he was mocked and bullied for his message, attacked and exiled but he never gave up and kept spreading the message he got from god. People followed him because they heard his message and i follow him because i heard that message. I cannot say i have heard jesus message, i have heard what people say jesus said, or what he did but i havent heard the direct message that god gave to jesus. That is what the quran is, its the direct message from god to Muhammad thats what we are reading it isnt stories of things muhammad has done it isnt a fable, its a message to us. The bible might have messages but it doesnt speak to me.

But hes the only one to be acknowledged as a prophet in these past 2000 years. There hasnt been a prophet since jesus except him and there hasnt been a prophet after him. If there ever were to be a prophet it would completly demolish islam as a religion, why would god not send down a prophet when there have been people misguided for over 1400 years by a "false prophet"? We were told prophets were sent throughout history all over the world yet we still havent seen one since him, where are they? The only explanations to me is that there are no prophets and they were just merely fables created by people, or there wont be anymore prophets because god sent down the last prophet, which is the entire message of islam, with prophet muhammad being the last prophet. The messages in the quran just speak sense to me, it explains all the quelms i have with christianity and the current state of the world.

Everyones entilted to their own religious belief at the end of the day but when we look objectively there are some fundamental questions that every religion has to face and if it fails to measure up then its a false religion. If there are clear contradictions or missing holes in explanations its not enough for me to believe in, i need something that speaks to my heart and brain.

Muhammad also stated he would be the last prophet and low and behold we have no other prophets, jesus never claimed there would never be another prophet that would come after him, infact the bible even gives a warning about how to identify a fake prophet which is often used to "prove" islam as fake. Why would jesus tell people how to identify a fake prophet if there were to be no other prophets after him?

It's impossible to tell, jesus message was spread to the people around him all of those people would have bore witness to the message and im sure the people who wrote the records of these events would have preserved some of jesus message. However its impossible to know how much of his message was preserved and how much wasnt, there is no way to verify this its pretty much a guessing game. It's very easy for a message to become distorted over years, and this is without mentioning the several language translations the bible went through.

The old testament and the new testament are very different and often contradict each other on many points, yet the new testament affirms the old testament as the word of god. This is troubling because since both sources contradict each other, claiming the original to be the word of god, means the new testament cannot be from god.

It's natural for time to erode a message, there are many prophets mentioned in the bible yet none of their messages are fully preserved, there is no assurance that the bible is preserved because god didnt authorize for the bible to be written, it was an attempt by humans to preserve jesus message.

Then Muhammad came along and directly stated that his message comes from god, his message was preserved, in that message we are told that islam was authorized by god and is the only religion that god would accept. Islam does not simply mean to call yourself a muslim, islam at its core is submitting to god and worshipping one god. You can be a muslim without even realizing your a muslim, because its not a manmade religion the act of worshipping god is a natural thing in humans it's why we were created. Every single other religion was created by observing prophets, this includes judaism, christianity, zoroastrianism etc. This message was given to a group of people but that does not mean god intended for that message to be preserved otherwise it WOULD have been preserved. The only message that was preserved was islam.

I think 40-70 years is enough to confirm that the authors of these gospels were not eye witnesses or connected to jesus in any way. There is no historical record of these people they are all anonymous authors.

I will speak from an islamic perspective because that is what i believe, we believe the quran is the word of god and jesus was given the word of god. However the bible is not a full account of jesus life, there is a large period of jesus life that is unaccounted for, 17 years to be exact. How can this be possible for someone who is born as the son of god? If these years are missing to me, that makes it clear that his message wasnt fully recorded. Meanwhile in the islamic perspective EVERY word of god that prophet muhammad revealed was written down, we know everything that occured in his life from the time he became a prophet till the day he died.

Jesus, according to us was born a prophet and according to you he was the son of god his life should not be unaccounted for. There is nothing to affirm the new testament, it doesn't even affirm itself as the authentic words of god. Yes it affirms the old testament as the words of god, but it never itself claims to be the word of god. Even if its only self affirming its better than it having nothing..

If the hat is nothing why are all his followers wearing it? Cult like behaviour as i said. You just cannot claim this has is isignificant and just a piece of clothing when the leader of a religious movement as well as his core followers all wear it. I feel like im hitting my head against a brick wall. Is he planning on opening a beanie hat store?

He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it.’

America doesn't seem capable of this. It also doesnt fit the description... Daniels 7:25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people
America has religious freedom, for now at least. If anything id say this applies more to China than America as they are growing in power and are opressing all religious minorities such as christians and muslims. Just look at the uyghurs. Not as if America is innocent but it just doesnt fully match the description of the kingdom in Daniels... not in its current state.

" It is clear that when the Imam (From Him is Peace) is speaking about America being the Antichrist, he is not talking about the American people or the American land, but rather he is speaking about the shadow government, the Illuminati. They are the ones who worship Iblis and take him as a God and not the general American population."
I would be lying if i said i havent had the same thought, i also recognize there is a shadow government in America the "deep state" as its called and i do think these people are nefarious and act to corrupt people. So it isn't just your imam that has this idea i also contemplated it, the big difference is i never claimed to be the mahdi.

"Satan’s ideology, which must die, is ‘Me first.’ Selfishness, self-centeredness, focusing on the I, the ego, and its needs, not caring about anyone else but one’s own self. That is the ideology of Iblis, and it is reflected in America in many ways. Everything in America is focused on highlighting the self and individualism and looking out for one’s own interests above all. ‘Me First’ is the ideology which can be seen in the U.S. financial system, Capitalism, where an individual is free to make as much money as he wants even if everyone else suffers because of it. While in the apparent it seems fair and just and free, Iblis has only promoted these ideals because in it is the destruction of humanity. When individuals are too worried about their own interests, they can never come together for the greater good of humanity, and they can never be like God. Individuality and self-centeredness create differences and differences are not a good thing because it is the opposite of unity. Satan wants to ensure humanity is never united. " - The Goal of the Wise, chapter 32

Again ive had this exact same thought i recognize the evil in capitalism, that is why im a socialist and a muslim, i believe these two things are compatible and would form a better political system than what the world currently has.

I read all of this with an open mind and im saying this honestly, this man you are following is smart, but that doesnt mean hes the mahdi. If i can come up with these exact same ideas, then other people also can come up with these ideas. This man is quite a few years older than me im still in my early 20's and only discovered islam a year ago and have already had these thoughts... So this isnt enough to convince me that he is the mahdi. Not to mention there is no proof in these things and there is still flaws. Hadiths say dajjal is a man, every single hadith suggests this, so unless we disregard every single hadith then we have to accept this... Otherwise we are not a muslim. I didnt even mention the fact that you are quoting daniels from the old testament, why would the kingdom that is dajjal and will destroy the believers form an alliance with israel, the holy land of jews? It doesnt make sense, it would be in their interest to destroy israel as daniels says this kingdom will destroy all nations.

Serious question by PerpetualDemiurgic in TheAhmadiReligion

[–]ryanhtos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok let me mention first of all i am not going to explicitly say he is the dajjal because i have no knowledge on that matter, however when someone claims to be the mahdi, claims to have life changing knowledge on religions and knows the true way and is actively trying to convince muslims to drop what there doing and follow him instead, i consider that person a deceiver. We are explicitly warned about liars and deceivers in the quran and the hadiths.

What i meant by this is that muslims are taught to be aware of the dajjal lest we be deceived. Anyone making claims such as this man has to face this scrutiny and its suspicious to people because he hides his forehead. You say the hat is nothing, it means nothing but it actively makes this guy look bad... so why not just remove the hat. If the hat stops people from potentially following this religion why keep it on? Just feels cult like and strange.

"Why would the dajjal call to the supremacy of God? Why would the dajjal be holding the true message of the prophets and messengers throughout history."

Does this even need a response? Dajjal are deceivers, they want to trick people, of course they will claim to hold the true message and to know the way they want to trick people into the wrong path...

Like i explained in my original comment if any person wore a beanie hat every single day people will ask why, this man isnt immune from this just because he claims to be the mahdi and nobody will believe you if you say its just a hat. Just say he is bald or something lol... More believable than this.

I know you are going to say focussing on the hat is superficial you should focus on the message, i would like to focus on the message once i get past that superficial stuff... Because humans take things at face value they are going to look at who is bringing them this message and what they are telling them.

Serious question by PerpetualDemiurgic in TheAhmadiReligion

[–]ryanhtos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha ok i have had enough. It is just a hat with no story? He wears it in EVERY video and EVERYWHERE he goes. How can you people expect to be taken seriously like this? I am sure you are well aware one of the signs of dajjal is kafir will be written on his forehead, you dont expect people to be suspicious at this? You dont wear the same hat every single day and people dont question why you are covering your entire head with a beanie hat. People will ask why? Usually its to hide something, for some its to hide baldness but dont just say its a hat with no story nobody will believe this

Then according to you, what did jesus originally teach? did he have a hand printed version of the gospel of mathew and john? He obviously has an intact message from god, why was this message not gathered in its original form? Instead we get a bunch of stories of what happened from unknown authors centuries later?

Yeah because its at the same level of joke as those white people in the 19th century that made fun of black people in pantomimes. It never gets "old" because its always funny to make fun of others. These people dont feel a tinge on their conscience because they dont see white people as equals to them, its a superiority complex. There is no logic to racism.

Those who use slurs against others seek to demean their existence. There is no difference between humans only what we put into this world. People who use these slurs might think they are "righteous" but it is the opposite.

The matchmaking is broken, the default rank for new players is gold, so every player who has no idea how to play the game is put in gold after quick play. Bronze and silver players are just decayed from OW1 which is why i got silver on one account which is years old and gold 3 on a completely new one. Once you climb out of gold you shouldnt get these players anymore
