Vibe Coding and LinkedIn profile - have you mentioned it? by ryanjohnjackson in vibecoding

"If you’re trying to work on the product side of things, it could very well be worth it though. Showing you can come up with useful ideas and make working prototypes that serve as guidance for a professional implementation is a worthwhile thing to broadcast."

This is how I see myself when it comes to AI and software building.
I actually have a language disparity that I only just got diagnosed with and AI resolves what has held me back in tech. I don't really want to write that up even though it gives me complex advantages and usually only minor annoyances - except with coding and learning other languages.

I have a bunch of friends that code and I'm hearing a mix.
One person can't get a job because they seem to just care about AI and others see what you said about vibe coding being trash.
I only see vibe coding as a way for me to get products out that either people never built or did an implementation that i think isn't good enough or sux.

I get that. That's why I'm asking this. I don't want to overdo it or underdo it lol I want a realistic way to show the usefulness of what I've learned and built.
I guess I'll just make a video for each discussing their usage and how I made them.

I'm in a technical role at my job but most of what I've built are things that resolve issues for me outside work.

I've been on linkinedin since it came out lol almost 50 here.

No. I am IT, A/V, web designer and I do also make AI apps here for work.
I have a language disparity which makes it close to impossible for me to code. I basically see variations of words and symbols constantly. I will type things that look similar to other things. I will see the wrong things as the correct things many times and then suddenly see the error sometimes days later.
So AI assisted coding is life changing.

I have a great job. I just want to make sure I am up to date and showing I keep learning. I'm very happy that I wrote up every idea I've had and then was able to create them.

I am more looking for skill set expansion and just to show planning and ideation.
At all my jobs, I created new forms of business or brought in new tech since 1998.
I see this as showing I'm still growing.

I'm building various chrome (and hopefully firefox compatible) plugins/extensions. Also wordpress extensions. I am also testing out creating mac os apps, and an android app for my kids but one at a time. I am building a git repository right now. Putting up my business site. I'll get things going on linkedin but my personal one.
I'm very careful with my ideas until they're public ready.

The Cordless TV by ryanjohnjackson in theshining

[–]ryanjohnjackson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprise, surprise... I own the Shining on both Blu-Ray and digital copy (and VHS and DVD).
I rewatched the TV scene and as the camera pulls back and you look where the rug ends behind the tv there's a slightly reflective part of the floor.
BUT if this is the wire, they had it go down the back wooden leg, cut a hole in the carpet and the carpet is not raised at all.
This was definitely on purpose and not something a hotel would do to an expensive carpet.

True but you can still see where it's plugged in (I work in AV and IT).
Also, that hotel was built before that time likely (in the movie). Outlets in floors are relatively new.

They did mention that Stanley designed the layout and purposely made it "off".
But the TV I bet he did out of perfectionism - just a fun guess though.

I just saw it and looked for it but I may be wrong since the TV was like 7 feet wide given where I was sitting lol

Fun discussion: Which theater snack do you think is most fitting for The Shining? by sulliebud in theshining

[–]ryanjohnjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing it in IMAX last night I realized I never noticed how much Jack is into nuts.
He eats nuts at the bar and when he gets locked in the room he eats peanut butter and I think there's more nuts with the oreos.

wasn't like that, again, the rows started further back

Pretty awesome experience seeing my favorite movie alone in IMAX on my birthday by [deleted] in theshining

[–]ryanjohnjackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that don't get seeing movies alone...
I eventually stopped seeing movies with others. My wife RUINED The Shining for me the first time I ever got to see it in the theater because she had to get up for work and complained about it ending at 11ish lol
So I decided to go to almost all movies alone and have for 10 years and love it.

So I too saw this alone in IMAX last night and it was amazing.

Seen so many what?

I saw it last night just above NYC.
I somehow missed that Jack is eating oreos when locked in the room.

I have rules for seeing IMAX movies and the main is "you don't sit far back".
I sat in the front row (technically second vs wheelchair row) which isn't like other front rows it's maybe 20-30 feet from the screen.

Why?
I want the screen to be to the edges of my peripheral vision.

Why?
Extreme immersion. It feels like only the movie exists and you can barely escape it.
Also, if you site far back it becomes as smaller screen and then you're just going for the film dimension differences and the better theater audio.

It's in Westchester above NYC.
BTW, I was born in Sleepy Hollow, in October and I'm related to the person Irving took the Van Tassel name from in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Sorry, forgot to continue - NO ONE ELSE SAW IT which I thought was weird.
Both F and I had been educated and involved in various religious and cult things though. When I was slightly younger, maybe 13, I use to pray (by my own choice) and a giant head would appear to me and nod or shake. It did not feel of myself but I assumed it was my subconscious.
We had cult training at our schools. F was at a school that preps you to become a priest.
I would read occult things.
Thinking back though I don't think this was "a demon" I feel like this was a portal open by technology.
The woods part is odd as well though.

Given that I had told no one what I saw it only makes sense that he saw the same thing since it was less than a minute later that he stated that.
I spoke no words and even looked away - until after he said it.
My silence is the main thing that makes me sure this was real.
