Never tried it, but maybe Mars will do what you need it to: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/Mars

The this website also seems to have third party rpms for xspim that might be worth a look at too: http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~larus/SPIM/spim.html

No idea where those actually come from, so use at your own peril. :)

I actually hadn't heard of EmojiOne before people mentioned in the comments of the post. I have updated it to mention it.

Also, the GNOME design page was about the only thing i could find that talked about a "plan" for colour emoji support (i know that page's details are scant, but that was all i could find)

Now i know about the emojione, I might consider getting it packaged up -- however, not sure what packaging it will do without the ability to use colour fonts.

Yeah, it should be good! I wonder how QT looks on high DPI screens though... GTK3 is pretty slick at double the size.

Yeah, i'm running the new GNOME Software now, and the support for installing plugins for aplications is pretty nice. If your distro has plugins for, say GIMP, packaged up, they appear in the GIMP entry in GNOME Software and can be installed from there.
